Am I going to get REJECTED by all 8?... PLEASE TELL ME NOT!

wow ok can we clarify this. ive been getting to many mixed reviews...
half of the people seem to say that the gpa is important but other factors in my application may give me a chance to some of the places, including lehigh. the other half says that i shouldnt even bother...

which one is it!!!

Nick, my man........................here's the deal

George Mason/Accepted
Christopher Newport/Accepted
Virginia Commonwealth/Accepted
Radford/Accepted
Longwood/Accepted
ODU/ Accepted (Old Dominion University)

ODU is your best bet and is probably the best school on that list.....either ODU or George Mason. Do great your first year, and transfer into your dream school. Too late now Nick to be worrying about this. Good Luck. You'll be fine!

knickers..
trust me man.. your strongest suit is your backround, and its more important than your GPA.. trust me. GPA is waay overrated and with the amount of grade inflation thats going on lately, its completely unreliable. sides, I was in your AP world history class.. that was in 10th grade dude, it looks awesome that we took APs in 10th grade. you dont take easy classes now either, colleges drool all over that .
so f
(can you curse on this thing?) the GPA and nail those essays =)

I can't really comment on whether or not you'll get in. Your GPA seems low to me. rebe_m, grade inflation it makes it worse, not better. I would like to ask what the point of putting up a chances thread if you're just going to ignore what people say. The people who have replied and know more about this than myself have put lehigh as a very high reach. Yet you still ask for opinions, completely disregarding what others have said. I would take what they have said into consideration rather than asking until someone gives you the response that you're looking for.

Since you keep asking about Lehigh... and nobody seems to be answering you....

I'm applying to Lehigh too, and your SAT scores are fine (no matter what anyone on this board says) and I think your GPA could hurt you. But I was talking to an admissions officer, and she was like "Yeah, we understand that sometimes people screw up. I'd rather see them screw up during high school than during college, so if I can see that you're on the upward trend, I'll look favorably on you." So the fact that you slipped back down again senior year is gonna cost you, which sucks.

I think if you write stellar essays and get some awesome teacher recs, you have a chance. It's a reach, but it's not a definite no.

You definitely aren't gonna need to go to community college, anyway.

Ok thanks... is Lehigh nice?

I really liked it when I visited, it's absolutely gorgeous. You better like to walk though, cause everything is crazy far away from each other, and it's got extremely active Greek life, so if that's not your thing... But the school itself is really pretty, a lot of the people I saw definitely fit the "sorority girl/frat boy" sort of mold, which was kind of bleh for me. The housing is okay, most people live off campus or in frat/sorority houses by the time they're in junior or senior year, and Bethlehem is pretty shady. The people seemed friendly enough, and I guess I saw it from a different perspective, because I'm a legacy and we visit a lot and so I got a lot more of my dad pointing things out and being like "You see that little building? That used to be the entire English department, I'm not kidding..." and stuff like that.

Heh if I got accep[ted to Lehigh I'd be so happy! Lehigh or William and Mary.

Please do yourself a favor and look at some safety schools. Every year there is someone out here who gets rejected everywhere. Admissions can be a real crap shoot. Take a look at Marist (NY), University of NH, University of Vermont, Roger Willams (RI), Providence College (RI), Fairfield U (CT), Hofstra (NY), Wheaton (MA). All of them should be Match / Safety. Good Luck.

I'm already applying to two safeties... (instate) james madison and george mason

USC does do spring admits and will take chances on students with lower academic credentials but who are otherwise attractive. Go ahead and give it a try, but make sure that you pay special attention to them. Try and get an interview with the regional rep.

BTW, we are also from Fairfax County. Being from the east coast will be a plus for admissions. My son, who went to a private school in the District, is a third year student at USC.
