I'm a senior and I applied to UC irvine, riverside, berkeley, and davis, and I'm going to apply for couple out-of-state public universities.

I started off with 4 AP classes, but I wasn't able to keep up with all the classes even though I studied, so I switched AP physics and AP government to regular CP in the second quarter.

right now, I have
AP calc - D
korean - A+
AP env sci. - C
civics CP - D
physics CP - C+
English - C

because I transferred to CP classes, those 2 AP grades became 0%, so I have Ds on the two classes even though I got As on all the tests.

I can bring physics and civics to Bs, and AP calc to a C-, but I don't know about the rest.
but I'm sure that I'll be better on second semester.

would I get rescinded if I'm accepted? if I am, what should I do? my counselor already knows what's going on since I talk to him often

Depends on the school. But many schools require you to notify them at the time you switch, not after you’ve received a decision. Have you checked the websites and notified them now if required?

For Berkeley for example:

Q: I added (or dropped or changed) my coursework after submitting my application. Do I need to let you know?
A: You must let us know, in writing, about any changes to your courses or grades by mail or fax. Please send your signed letter to:

Course/Grade Change Request
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
University of California
103 Sproul Hall #5800
Berkeley, California 94720-5800
Fax: 510-642-7333

Please note that providing misinformation could result in a cancellation of your admission to Berkeley.

I fixed that on my UC application a week before I submitted it, so that’s not an issue.

what I’m worried about is my grades…I really don’t want to get rescinded

Admission to the UCs is contingent upon retaining a 3.0 GPA senior year, with no grades below a C. If you don’t satisfy that, you may be able to work something out with a college, but you have no guarantee.

is the 3.0 GPA just for the first semester or for the whole year? I’m sure that I can get back on track.

That I’m not sure of; it could even be that just your cumulative GPA has to stay above 3.0. Just make absolutely sure to get all your grades at a C or above, and email the UCs to find out what they require.

oh wow.
this actually might be the case.
hopefully you come back out strong

thank you for the replies. if I or my counselor explains why I got bad grades to the UC admission office, will it help not to get rescinded? I’ve already improved most of my grades but I still have a solid D in AP Calc… I recently got myself a tutor so I’ll do better on the final and next semester.
