It’s at the bottom of my list for colleges here in Georgia so I would be devastated if I can’t even get in. It’s still a good school and I’m also hoping to get into the Honors Program. As for my stats:
Grade: 12th
GPA: 4.0 unweighted
AP Classes: 11
SAT Scores:
1st try - 1860 (CR: 550, M: 650, W: 660)
2nd try - 1980 (CR: 620, M: 680, W: 680)
Pretty disappointed with SAT scores. That 2nd try was the last one they’ll take for Early Action. I mean it’s in the range of average SAT scores from last year. I’m taking the SAT a third time, hopefully I’ll do good enough for Georgia Tech.
I think UGA mainly focuses on what I put up already but if you need to know about my extracurriculars:
Beta Club, National Honor Society, Science National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta/Math Team, Peer Tutoring, Latin Club
Yes it’s fine for UGA, you most likely won’t get into honors with those scores though. UGA honors is extremely tough.
As far as Tech is concerned, figure out what kids generally get in from your school or what their stats are generally like. SAT is below average in both subjects they post for (Math/Verbal), but not so much that I’d worry. You have a really strong schedule.
I’m not sure where else in Georgia you’re applying but you should be good to go at Mercer and any of the regionals. The test scores and lack of ECs (Beta Club + the Honor Societies can easily be seen as redundant) may be an issue, but once again you perform strongly inside of the classroom.
Good luck!
Yes my current score is pretty bad for Honors but I’m hoping to bump them up in time for Honors. I think 1400+ on Reading and Math is pretty ideal. I was just wondering if my current SAT score is fine for Early Action admission.
ECs are my main weakness and that’s why I’m hoping I get in early so they don’t have to focus harshly on that as well.
As for Georgia Tech, my scores are below average and again I’m hoping that my last SAT test is as good as I want it to be. I honestly think Mercer is too easy and like I said, UGA is at the bottom of my list for colleges. GA schools I’m applying to are UGA, GA Tech, and Emory.
Thanks for the response!
Oh my stuff for ECs was in regard to Emory (I don’t know why the word was deleted). You’re probably right that Mercer may not give you the challenge you want. Good luck!
