Am I good for UCSB and USC? I chance back.

I will chance back so please leave a link for me to do so after you have chanced me. Thanks!

Am I good for UCSB and USC with:
UW 3.59 W 3.8
91 out of 497 (top 18%)
ACT composite: 28 (34 English, 32 Reading, 23 Math, 24 Science)
SAT Superscore: 1950 (700 Writing Skills, 670 Critical Reading, 580 Math)

Extracurriculars: Speech and Debate (lettered, Outstanding Varsity Speaker award, National qualifying alternate, State finalist, Congress Captain, Vice President of Debate)
Mock Trial (state qualifying team)
DECA (International Qualifier, second in state, 1st in state in testing, 3rd in districts, Captain of Management)
Quiz Bowl
Model United Nations
Temple Volunteer

I dont think ucs superscore sat scores

USC: reach
UCSB: high match

You’re right I forgot. My highest SAT in one sitting is 1890 (610 CR, 700 W, 580 M)

I think depending on your academic rigor UCSB will be somewhere around high match. USC will most likely be a reach for you but that could be helped with stellar essays and other aspects of your application besides tests/ gpa.

Hey thanks for chancing me! you can definitely get into UCSB. For USC, i think your extracurricular will help you. It is a stretch but with that school, they consider more than just tests

I think you have a really easy chance at getting into UCSB. You have great grades and EC’s which is really good, and will better your chances at getting into USC.

I dunno - UCSB has become more selective in recent years. Their avg freshman admit had a GPA over 4.0 and SAT close to 2000.

Be sure to have a safety as your backup plan.

^^^i agree. Your stats are low for UCSB. I think both are reaches. Have you thought about SBCC as a route into UCSB?

I think you’ve got a solid shot at UCSB. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in with your profile. I think USC is definitely a reach school just because it’s so competitive. But best of luck :)

Chance me back? [Chance Me ED Penn, Chicago and More](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1573209-chance-me-ed-penn-chicago-more-will-chance-back.html)

Ok thanks guys! I’ll chance back! For my USC essay do you think it’d be better to talk about how naturally talented I am at public speaking/debate or of how I had to deal with a horrible co captain and the things I learned from that situation (you’ll have to cooperate with people you disagree with throughout your life)?

Here is USC’s freshman profile for this year: http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/documents/FreshmanProfile2013FINAL.pdf</a></p>

Your SAT and ACT are firmly in the bottom quartile of admits. Keep in mind that USC admits a lot of athletes and artsy people (film, music, etc.) with low stats.

3.59 is definitely below the mean of enrolled and admitted, although about average for applicants. This should tell you something.

Because you are statistically inferior, you need to write a stellar common app essay and a supplement that clearly demonstrates why you want to go to USC. What major/school are you applying to? Why?

As far as UCSB, your SAT is slightly below average but your GPA firmly below. Your ECs are strong (probably much stronger than the average SB student to be honest)… UCSB really is not that selective of a school. I would expect you to be close as long as your personal statement is good.

For USC I’m majoring in Business Administration at Marshall School of Business with hopes of getting a dual degree program with Cinematic Arts and USC is the only school in the nation that offers that program.

UCSB is a reach.

According to Parchment I’m in the middle for UCSB.

I think you could get into UCSB, but USC is definitely a stretch unless you break 2050 maybe. Your ECs are good, but you may still be a little weak on your gpa. I would check what your UC gpa is, it tells you how to do it on their website and during the app process. Make sure you definitely have some back ups too. Good luck! and please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1576421-what-my-chances-getting-into-usc-ucla-nyu.html</a></p>

MY UC GPA is 3.65 if that helps people narrow it down.

Ohhh, I think the average for UCSB UC gpa is about a 4.00. Just work really hard this year to try and get it up.

I’m a senior.

They still look at first semester of senior year, if they see a drastic improvement, they will that into consideration.
