Hello, I am an in-state (Virginian) female enrolled in my high school's academy program.
I seek realistic chances with my current stats and ADVICE to improve my chances. In return, I will chance back. Thank you endlessly for your time.

Please chance me for the following in-state schools:

Virginia Commonwealth University
James Madison University
George Mason University
William and Mary (2nd choice)
University of Virginia (1st choice)

I have a somewhat interesting scenario with grades

Question: I've been told that colleges "love to see academic improvement" in students... yes, my grades have improved and I've taken summer school to make sure I will still graduate with above a 4.0... but am I frowned upon by selective schools for my poor sophomore year performance? (there are, indeed, extenuating circumstances involved that can be explained in my essays)

Freshman year I had a 3.8; Sophomore year I earned a 2.8 due to crises within my home, thus my cumulative GPA fell to a 3.33; HOWEVER, in my junior year, I have recovered and strengthened my GPA by earning principals list every quarter. Hence, my junior year I earned a 4.0
(senior year is predicted to also be a 4.0 because formerly mentioned circumstance has been alleviated)

With this in mind, my stats are below, thank you.

CURRENT CUMULATIVE Weighted GPA - 4.001
CURRENT CUMULATIVE Unweighted GPA - 3.76

SAT - 1760 (very low due to nerves, I'm retaking in May, expecting about 1850+)

AP Courses - AP European History, AP Biology, AP Psychology, next year I'm taking AP English Lit/Comp, AP Physics B, AP Calculus AB, and AP Government

Honors Courses - Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Honors Chemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, etc.

Extracurricular Activities - varsity scholastic bowl, psychology club, 150+ hours medically related volunteer work

Leadership - founder and co-president of an organization at my high school, team leader for junior class trip, media and public relations co-chair for a committee in my city, leader of Relay for Life fundraising team which has raised $400 for the American Cancer Society

"Standout" - working on publishing a novel, first in my family to go to college, raised by single parent, and I play the bongos (if that counts)

Academic honors - awards in biology, recommended for community service award

Thank you so much for reading, please give me pointers and chances. Be brutal because I know I will have to fight like a mad woman for admission. Will chance back ~
