Am I headed in the right direction for these schools?

I'm looking into University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Michigan Ann Arbor or University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I'm a junior in high school and I live in Wisconsin. I know it's a bit early to tell, but do I have a decent chance if I keep doing what I have been?

Unweighted GPA: 3.834
Class Rank: 14/335
Practice ACT Composite: 28
Practice ACT English: 29
Practice ACT Math: 27
Practice ACT Reading: 28
Practice ACT Science: 29

Just something to note: I took the practice ACT after taking the PSAT, so my scores might be a tad on the low side since I had already taken a standardized test before this one. :)

Academics
-Four AP classes from Freshman to end of Junior Years (received a 4 and a 3, I'm taking two now)
-Several other honors classes

Extracurriculars
-National Honor Society
-German National Honor Society (Treasurer)
-Class Board: Mostly organizing dances and class fundraisers
-Color Guard with Marching Band (Co-Captain Junior year)
-JV Tennis
-JV Track & Field- Shotput and Discus
-Baton Twirling Group (not through school)
-Private clarinet lessons

I'm just trying to get a general idea if I have a chance at any of these schools or if I need to readjust the schools I'm looking at. Thanks for reading!

Also: I’m considering University of Michigan Ann Arbor and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill more of reach schools. But could I possibly get in?

Probably. At least for me, the practice ACT did not predict my actual score very well. I received a 25 on the practice, but scored a 33 a few months later. You have a good amount of extracurriculars and good grades. Keep doing what you are doing and try to bring up any low grades, and I think you will have a really good chance.

Did you take an ACT prep class or just study a lot?

Should I strive for more officer positions? I might have a shot at class president or VP. I could be an NHS officer. Should I try for it or am I in a good enough position that I can to without the added stress of another officer position?

I think you would get into U of MN and possibly WI, unless you are in Madison.

UNC takes VERY few OOS students and those that are admitted have exceptional stats. So I would call that a long shot–Michigan too.

Also, you do realize the cost of UNC and Michigan will be approximately double that of WI/MN?

I live in Wisconsin and many people from my high school end up going there, so I think I actually have a pretty good chance.

Is there anything you think I could work on to increase my chances of getting accepted into these schools? Any more extracurriculars I should look into or classes I should take?

I do realize that UNC and Michigan are very expensive but my parents have told me that we would be able to pay for an expensive school if I absolutely wanted to.

All of these schools are definitely in reach for you and you have great EC’s so just try to improve your test scores. Good luck!
Chance me back?
