don’t you know this already? +2300 SAT, 4.0 GPA…I’m sure you know your chances just as well as anyone else. ie, you have a better than average shot, but of course, HYSM are no one’s guarantee.

I think you’ll get accepted by at least 1 of them only because of the lack of strong ECs which in my opinion will be the main factor in your case. Your math II scores indicate sub-ivy math skill and your biology sat II do the same for science. Your SAT I is the key here, but in the HYPM case, 2200ers, 2300ers, or 2400ers- they are all fit to study well at those top colleges. So the question really is, who will really add to the school’s diversity, who will help promote the clubs and organizations, and who will be able to contribute something grand for the school. Show this in your essays and I’ll bump your chances to at least 2/4. Sorry if you took offense to any of my comments- I’m only trying to show you the worst of the worst. Good luck fellow brown man :)

Chance me?

Why is the math II score so low? just curious. I mean you are obviously super good at math, why not retake? I heard that HYPS value SATII’s as much as SAT I and I’m sure you can get an 800.

although you have double 800’s verbal and math which is pretty rare, I think you have a good shot.

might wanna change that “although” to “because” azn2400 ;)

anyways, i agree with collegeaddiction’s analysis perfectly. kind of weak ec’s, which will inevitably hurt you. great job on UW gpa + sat1 though!!

write great essays and i can see you gettin into at least one of the hyps

Again, you’ve got the stats (and although the math II curve is pretty generous, 770 is still a decent score), but not the EC’s.

Consider also the fact that you’re an ORM.

Thank you everyone, this has been very enlightening. And I don’t know why my math level 2 score is a 770, because I took two tests from a math level 2 practice book and got 800s. I guess I was just having a bad day on the date of the real test :/

Is it really worth it to retake just to raise it by 30 points?

It will be worth it if you’re going to retake math II AND a science as well. Like azn said, HYPS will look at SAT IIs evenly with SAT I, so you need to match your SAT IIs with your SAT I to prove that you aren’t just good at “reasoning and accuracy” tests like the SAT I, but also good in the “specific analysis and knowledge” tests like the SAT IIs.

In terms of GPA/Rank and SAT’s your stats are excellent. However, the SAT II’s seem to be an oddity; your obviously quite talented in math so an 800 Math II SAT II score should be easily attained and you should also consider improving your Biology score. Also, I thought Harvard requires 3 SAT II scores? Your EC’s are somewhat weak and will hurt you most when you are compared with applicants with similar stats.

However, I’d still say your competitive and I wouldn’t be surprised if you got accepted to one of the three.

Yeah thanks Jersey13 I just found out that Harvard does require three. Looks like I’ll retake math level 2 and take chemistry. Is it plausible to take them in January and still have them reviewed under my RD application?

You have great SAT I and GPA…if you raise your SATII and write great essays that elaborate your activities, you will have great chances to get into HYPSM

You have great test scores and GPA, you have a high chance anywhere! But… For HYPS you are sort of the average indian/asian student (don’t take this the wrong way!)

Your clubs and extra curriculars are very similar to many, many other applications they will be receiving. To increase your chances try and set yourself away from the pack! Write an interesting, unique, essay

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/809189-okay-gpa-good-scores-chance-me-anyway.html

um, you’re ECs are kinda lacking. You didn’t make AIME. With church and stuff, you’re involved in the community, but involvement doesn’t show ability. The representing India sounds like a 1 day per year thing.

Scores are there. Other’s aren’t.

Then again, they don’t break your application; your essay does. Perhaps if you have an interesting story to tell?
