**** So, as you can see, Mary Wash is my ONLY Safety!! Do I need another? Is seven schools enough? Too many? PLEASE CHANCE!****

First of all, settle down. I can’t really chance, I’m still learning the art form, but 7 schools is enough, but you really should have at least 2 or 3 safeties. If anything, to try and get some scholarships or some kind of money from that can be used later to bargain with the other reach universities if you get accepted, since you’re less likely to receive any aid from them. You have a good amount of EC’s, got a nice ACT, but for SAT, if you are looking at anything Ivy League, scores should be in the 700’s for a safer application, but if you’re not applying for anything math related don’t bother. Other than that, I think you’re okay to apply?

Thank you so much! Yeah, I’m retaking the SATs in the fall - aiming for a collect call, but I really just need to get that math score up.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good second safety? I’m leaning toward Bryn Mawr…

What’s your class rank? How competitive is your school, do you know?

Honestly, I think that one safety is enough, as long as a) you really love it and b) you know you can afford to go there. But Bryn Mawr’s a good choice.

The Japanese immersion as a Caucasian makes you stand out and I think will be a plus. You have a good, balanced list and I think if you can raise the math SAT score a bit, you’ll be of interest to your reach schools.

My school doesn’t rank. It’s a public school, so only about 10-15% of my class is super-competitive about colleges. Although I do live in Fairfax County, VA, so my view might be a bit warped.

Brown - reach for everyone
Emory - good chance
Macalester
Mary Washington - in obvi
Pomona
Wellesley - slight reach for everyone, but clearly you have a good chance
William and Mary - more than a good chance but not 100 percent

such a good list. i would not change a thing if i were you. (perhaps only send your ACT score and SAT2’s…?)

I think you said you are going to take math I? Don’t take it, take math II. But you already have good SAT II scores so it doesn’t really matter.
