It took me 5days to get accepted by bothel...submitted on dec.23th and unofficial transcript loaded today, 28th. I wish seattle people could be as efficient as this.

Not sure if this would help explain the situation, but here are my basic stats:

GPA unweight:3.88
SAT I:1910 (agh...)
In State

I know they aren't stellar (and for sure not expecting a personal note from addmission director or something like that...), but I thought they were decent enough for UW. The waiting is just killing me, since so many people who applied around the time same have at least had their status changed once, while mine has been sitting on "awaiting initial review" since a month ago...I hope it didn't just get buried in the corner and forgotten.

one thing that might have made the case a little different though. I noticed a mistake in the activity journal section after submitting my app and emailed an addmission officer immediately, and the person let me attach the correct text with the email and send back to them. Does this really complicate the review process?

Any comments appreciated...thanks. I know I might just have to be patient, but I'm having a really hard time holding back my worries =(

No, it took forever for my daughters to get through a few years back, and she had stats very similar to yours. She was accepted. Their review process seems very haphazard, so hang in there and I think you have a good chance.

Not sure how they admissions offices are different for Seattle and Bothell, but there’s probably a LOT more people applying to Seattle. Just saying. Other then that, I have no clue. I know someone who got into Bothell two days after he applied, and is still at ‘initial review’ for Seattle (applied mid-to-end November)

but I just ran into something really weird.

So I got this email from UW Business Department, which says:

Congratulations on completing your admissions application to the University of Washington! We are honored to learn that you selected Business Administration as your first choice of major. Because of that selection, you may qualify for admission into the UW’s Foster School of Business through our Freshman Direct program.

and it goes on to talk about this “open online chat” to learn more about the major. So clearly they’ve looked at my app and figured that I put fown Business as my first choice? Why does my status still say “Awaiting an initial review” then?!

Do they just not want to make you feel bad - that’s why they wait until the end to update the status if they are going to reject you?

In any case, you submitted ON December 1st, which is when the majority of applicants send in their priority application. Thus, there may be a lot of applicants with your stats, but usually, then it goes to your essays.

I sent mine on November 22nd, and got in December 18th… took them about 1-2 weeks to change from ‘we have received’ to ‘we have reviewed…’

Good luck! (Your SAT score was 40 points higher than mine by the way)

mimizist, either theyve looked at your application or the computer program forwarded your name/info to the Business school. After all, it was an online application, right? I don’t think you should worry though, if they are even thinking about rejecting you, they would have changed your status to ‘we have reviewed your application…’ and just made you wait another few months. A friend of mine had his application reviewed last year in december, got rejected around late february or so. Quite the tedious (and disappointing) wait.

You can just imagine how many apps have come in over these past 3 or 4 weeks…probably close to 20K? The vast majority of applicants won’t hear anything until the end of March or early April. There is NO known/defined pattern as to when you will hear from admissions, so just relax and consider any news before April as a nice surprise (hopefully). Good luck!

Yeah, last year I applied on December 1st, and I didn’t hear back till mid March, and I got into Honors with scholarships etc.
I don’t think it’s in any specific order, so don’t fret.

This is what i got:
Application Status:
You have applied as an Postbaccalaureate student to the University of Washington Seattle for autumn quarter 2010. The current status of your application is as follows:

Your application is awaiting an initial review.

Autumn quarter 2010 admission applications and supporting documents that are submitted by January 15th usually receive an initial review within six to eight weeks after the Admissions Office receives all required documents. This may be longer during peak periods. The University mails most decisions.
Postbaccalaureate applicants are notified beginning in late May. Autumn quarter 2010 begins September 29, 2010.

I’m sorry, amibeethoven (cool name!). I emailed the office around early jan. and my status changed from “awaiting initial review” to “all materials received” within a couple of days. After all, it’s THEY who claimed that “apps…usually receive an initial review within six to eight weeks”, and the fact that yours still hasn’t gotten a review - let alone a decision - just doesn’t sound right or fair to me. I would recommend checking with them if you are worried.

I just got my acceptance letter yesterday, but only for A&S and I’m still waiting to hear back from Foster. Best of luck! Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
