Am I in trouble?

Hello all,

So a long time ago (2 - 2 1/2 months) I gave my counselor my resume for the counselor report for Common App. She already has turned it in. However, on further inspection of the resume that I had sent, I noticed that I had left out an activity that I listed under the Activities section of Common App. Also, I left out a minor detail like pet sitter and tutoring neighbors children (which I didn't really put on Common App but I included in the resume for my teachers). Finally, under awards on the resume I put that I was chosen for a "National Academy of Future Physicians award," which I later found out was a fake (I took this out on the resumes for my teacher when I realized it). I don't know what happened; I was in a rush I guess and didn't review, and now I am very worried. What should I do? How badly will this hurt me/ lower my chances? I really don't know what my counselor has put on the resume, but probably everything. When I talked with her, she said it's not too big of a deal, but I am not sure...

Help much appreciated!

Colleges are well aware of the nature of the National Academy of XXXXXXX Awards and Conferences and basically give no one any credit for them. There is no penalty for being duped.

If she says don’t worry then don’t worry. However I am concerned that if the college founds out that you’ve not won that award they may think that you’ve lied, deliberately or otherwise. So I would talk to my counselor again and ask her whether I should contact the universities and tell them what happened and not worry about the consequences.

@Kathleen: I think you’ve misread the OP’s question . Star did not say s/he won an award and while in actuality, had not.

Star wanted to omit a spurious award that may initially have gotten through and was wondering if she needed to amend her docs. She actually “won” the “award”. The award itself is just a hoax she has discovered.
