i made a 2 on my calc ab exam and a 2 on my ap us history exam. im in IB though, so will colleges even need to see my AP exam scores? =/ i also want to apply for direct med and im scared this will mess everything up. =( i did good in my classes....just messed up on the exams.

It might.. if you submit them.

So don't?

(I'm assuming you did well on your IB exams.)

AP scores are just for course placement, does not play a role in admissions.

Actually, colleges do look to see that you took AP courses during your stint in high school. They want to see that you "push yourself" and challenge yourself and stuff like that. But, the thing is if they see that you did well in the course but got less than desirable grades on the actual AP test, then they might raise an eyebrow (assuming you send them your scores).

People need to stop saying this. There is an entire section on the Common Application dedicated to your AP scores this year. AP scores are important because they reveal how well you mastered the material. Sure, your grades in the corresponding AP course are important, but not all classes are created equally. An "A" in one AP US History course could be a "B" in another AP US History course. Common sense, people!

I'm sorry but I'm repeating verbatim what UGA representatives told me. They do not care what you make on the AP tests or on the SAT II's (not talking Ivy league here), all they're looking at is GPA, rigor of course, SAT/ACT, and EC's.

^ Not every school is like UGA. Good AP scores can definitely help you in admissions.

OP - scores are self-reported on college apps, so just leave them off.

I got a 1 on AP US History, AP English Lit, and AP English Composition...and got a 4 on my AP Calculus AB exam. As for my SAT/ACT scores, they sucked. I was the Salutatorian of my class, was very active in school, and had an awesome GPA. But, I still got into all 5 schools I applied to...and several of them were very competitive.

Do AP scores play a role in admissions? Yeah, they do. But other things play a factor as well. So just because you didn't do so hot on your AP exams doesn't mean colleges won't accept you. They like to see that you took the challenge and didn't just take easy classes. I'm sure you'll be just fine.

I am curious.. could you PM or post your specifics?

scores and colleges made?

Thanks? :D

AP scores I would say are pretty much just used as very low level tiebreakers, or as a way to check the rigor of the class you took.
