I was born and raised in College Station 9 years, then I moved to Philly where Ive been livin for about 7 years now I think. My dad is a professor at Texas A&M and his official residence is still in College Station I think.

Its wherever you recieve your mail....I think that you can be considered instate if you live with your father for a certain amount of time during the year. BTW, help me out and chance me on the post I have up here.

Transfer....please help me out

im pretty sure you have to go to school in texas to be considered instate. i doubt they will give you automatic admission if you top 10% in some other state, even if you live with your dad for a certain amount of time during the year.

Yeah I have a feeling you guys are right, but one can always hope right ;) .

are you a senior who has already applied for admission? or are you a junior?

I may be wrong, but here is what I think:

You are not in state for top 10% admissions. For that, you need to be a graduate of an in state Texas high school.

Assuming your father is a Texas resident and that he has custody or joint custody of you, I think you are in state for tuition.

Kind of like the earlier post from the Texas family that was planning to send their kids to an out of state boarding school.

Yeah I'm not in the top 10% anyway, I was just wondering for tuition purposes. I'm a junior. If I could get the in state tuition that would definitely make me come here over penn state (I love UT 4000x more anyway..but the cheaper price tag versus 25k against 13k at penn state would make my decision really easy)

It's hard to get into UT from OOS
But you have to have a parent living in TX for 12 months - which would be your dad - but I think in order for that parent to determine your residency they need to be providing more than 50% of your living expenses or something. So if your mom pays for everything and has her own job, it will be harder to prove. But if your mom doesn't have a job and your dad pays all the bills from working in TX, you have a much better shot.

You should definitely call UT and ask though.
Or email.

My parents are married, it's just a bizarre situation right now, but yeah my parents' incomes are combined. Yeah, I think I'll contact them soon.

If your parents are married and your dad lives in Texas, you should be in state for tuition.

Same! I live in Abington Montgomer County PA and my dad lives in texas. After you get accepted you have to register for the school and fill out proof of residency. You are considered in state if you can prove that your non-custodial parent, who is a resident of texas, has been providing half of your financial support for the past years. My dad pays child support so I can get in-state tuition

That's awesome tnt, I'm glad to know there are other people like me nearby ;) By the way I go to Wissahickon.

Should be in state for tuition, assuming your father is a Texas resident.
