Am I interested in transferring for the wrong reasons?

Hi, I’m a sophomore at a small liberal arts college in Boston, MA. I’m currently an English Major with a double minor in History and Political Communication.

I’ve been going back and forth about transferring for a long time and obviously I’m cutting it really close considering I’m already in my sophomore year. I like my school and have been very successful there as far as friends, grades, and extracurriculars go. I have a good chance of becoming an RA next year, which is all the more reason to stay. But still, I can’t push away the idea that I could have gotten into a more “prestigious” institution if I had put in a little more effort during the college application process.

I just can’t decide if I really want to transfer because I’m interested in attending a school that has a different focus than mine does (mine is heavily focused on the arts) OR if I just want to try applying as a transfer to some schools as a way of redeeming myself. I was wondering if I anyone here has ever dealt with the latter and if you could offer any advice.

I want to just be happy at my school. I’ve made friends that will last a lifetime. I am also president of one student organization and on the e-board for two others. But, I still have some regrets.

(Also, don’t think I’m a troll, please! I’ve been a lurker on CC for a long time but just made an account because frankly, I need some advice!)

If you have a couple places you are interested in, go ahead and apply. If you are admitted and get a decent financial aid package, then that would be the time to decide whether to go or not.
