What is wrong with getting in the upper 600s on an SAT II test? You don't need to have a perfect score. It almost makes me sick to my stomach that people find it appauling that they got scores above a 700 (someone said that a 720 in bio was a "joke"). Relax, people!

For most the SAT IIs, the average score is around or greater than 600.

Most of the people here are higher achievers than the average college bound student, so they're naturally disappointed by a score that appears to be beneath their potential.

I know that I would be disappointed if I got a 720 in a subject that I excelled in and prepared extensively for.

ye what illogic said, but I think the line should be drawn somewhere. Some people are complaining about a 750+....I mean, unless it's MathIIC or a language, anything over 750 is very good. Doesn't ever need a retake, it'll just look weird.

There are people who got 790s and were disappointed. So I think people are going a bit overboard.

they are all perfectionists. just ignore them :)

I try to. I also discreetly tuck my high-600 scores under my pride. haha

"or a language"?????

Maybe you've never seen how the CURVE is for Spanish... (thanks to all the native speakers who take it...)

People work their asses off for 700-ish.

ye sry i was referring to the native speakers who took it. For instance, I know very few native chinese speakers who don't get 800 on chinese. But yes, if you're not a native speaker, it's much different, and 700+ is a fine score.

Yeah. Like, my 670 on biology made me feel really happy-until I realized it was the lowest by like 50 points on all those "What did you get?" boards--and most were embarrassed of their "horrible" 720's!!! I was proud to have learned a lot of biology on my own (my teacher was good, but teaching a lower level class) and to have gotten a decent score freshman year.

lol, well, I am embarrassed by my 650 in Math 2, and I feel rightly so. I'm retaking it, lol.

Yeah, I got a 660 in English Lit, and since I am not taking the class in school until next year, and because the exam is supposedly one of the harder ones, I was pretty impressed with myself until I came here haha. I wouldn't feel wrong retaking it next year when I have a bit more experience with the subject, but that's because there is definitely room for improvement, and because English (well, writing actually, but they took that test away) is my best subject. I just don't really get people, but it makes me feel like I am going to look bad when I apply to a top notch school.

W00t! I feel special now. 760 ftw.

OMG!! I got an 800! :[ Should I retake?

^^^lol maybe if I fill in all the ovals really well I'll get bonus points!! (820, maybe 850??)

CC-ers are not human. 730? 710? OMG 700?! Oh, the horror!

Regarding the Spanish scores: I'm a non-native speaker and got a 740, while on bio I got a 690 and on USH I got a 680. I'm fine with the latter score, but the former -- not as much. As I'm applying to Stanford, do you think the 740 in Spanish will offset the not-quite-as-good-score (in comparison to those here applying) in bio/history? My focus/passion = language...

I'm pleased with my scores overall, I just wonder since there are so many damned overachievers I'm competing with. Bah.

Bill Gates should buy Collegeboard and give his own kids 810's.

Bill Gates is real chill--he would never give his own kids 810. He'd make them work hard and then give them 500s.

Regarding the original post, CC is making me feel bad about my scores. Just wondering though, do scores in the high 600s shut you out of any schools at all? That's what everyone here makes it seem like and that's pretty discouraging.

^^ agreed. Bah, CC.

Kyledavid, I'm just curious, how hard is it to get in the 700's on the Spanish Sats, would you consider yourself an extremely fluent speaker?
