I go to a charter school in Utah called Nuames (Northern Utah Academy of Math Engineering and Science) and i’m 80th out of 250 students. We used to have a lot more (325) but since our program is quite rigorous students who do badly drop out and return to the school they’re zoned for.
I have a 3.8 unweighted gpa but I’ve taken enough college classes at my local university (weber state university) to earn my associates degree this spring (i’ll graduate with honors in April)
My Act is a 29 and my chosen major is architecture.
I’m a member of National Honor Society and our MUN club and I’ve taken 3 years of art and 5 years of math.
I’m also a ballet dancer, and volunteer our local library and local hospice and was a camp counselor/counselor in training my last 2 summers.
I’m really hoping to get into Tulane as it’s my top choice right now!
Are you a junior or a senior? I don’t usually pay attention to “chance me” posts because I don’t think they are worthwhile – after all, none of us really know what adcoms will and won’t think about an application – but here are some things to consider:
If you’re a junior, do you have leadership positions? NHS and MUN are great activities, but NHS is a very common activity. Leadership is what can begin to set you apart from other applicants, particularly leadership that is unique (i.e. starting your own club rather than being secretary of NHS, or starting a new initiative/program at your local library rather than just volunteering).
If you’re a senior and are waiting to hear back, have you demonstrated interest? (Letter of intent, visit, email to adcom, etc.) Interest is weighted verrrry heavily in Tulane admissions. If you’re a junior, definitely keep this is mind when you apply. I am currently waiting to hear back from Tulane and I regret not making more of an effort to show interest.
Again, no one can say whether or not you are likely to be accepted into Tulane. I think your college prep work is fantastic, but at the end of the day what Tulane is looking for is somewhat of a mystery
@amberdr00 I am a HS Sr and accepted with 3.5uw and 33 ACT. Think my strong essay and portfolio (I have pre arch drawing classes in HS) was my way in. Also demonstrated great interest.
