Hi, can I get into u Chicago with these stats.
GPA : 3.6/4 un-weighted
ACT: 30 (36M 30S 28E 25R)
SAT Subject test scores: 800 physics, 800 math level 2, 790 chemistry
I have a silver medal of international physics olympiad(IPO).
Iwas the national winner of national physics olympiad.
I have taught in one of the community schools of my area, and i have few other eca's.
I'm in top 5% of the graduating class.

And what do you guys think are my safeties?

I don’t chance anyone but all I can say is write some great essays. UChicago places a lot of importance on essays so you better work hard on them.

Your ACT English score is below the 25th percentile for Chicago so if its possible, try retaking the test in February to improve it to at least 31. Just to be safe.

If you are asking for fin aid, then you have no safeties as an international student. All schools are reaches.

Your stats won’t decide whether you get in or not–they won’t make you stand out positively or negatively. Your ACT composite is a little on the low side, but it’s still within the middle 50% range and you have a perfect score in Math. Your SAT IIs are excellent, but they are not required by UChicago, which should logically mean that they do not count much, if any at all. Your UW GPA doesn’t seem that high, but that might be because your school has a hard curriculum, since you’re in the top 5% of your class. Your achievements in physics outside of school are great, and that should make you stand out.

All in all, your stats are “good enough” for UChicago. However, A LOT of it depends on your essays–these could really make or break. Good luck.
