unweighted, I would NEVER go to RPI...I was in love with that school until I actually visited hehe it's too masculine and nerdy for me, I don't want to do to a engineering only type of school, b/c what if I discover that engineering isn't for me?

I'd say you have a good shot at UMich

ana:

At many schools there's 30-40% drop rate from engineering into non-engineering majors so considering the other major opportunities of the college is important (I'm just confirming your point).

ana,
Looking at some of your past posts, I'm confused about your SAT score:
April chances thread: 2300
Threads about your June SAT score: 1740, 1750 & 1760
This thread: 2250
Which is correct???

"Well my stats are:
3.6 GPA
SAT: 780M/720V/750W
My ECs are weak, a few clubs, no leadership
I'm a hispanic female
"

Michigan, try princeton maybe.

being hispanic and female is gonna help a lot in engineering.

ahh I'm sry, I guess my cousin with the 1760 has been forgetting to log me off?
But sry about that, I'm 2250, she's 1760.

Try University of Illinois. They're GREAT for engineers, and not that expensive. Look up UIUC.

I don't think I'd want to move from NY to Illinois haha, but thaks anyways :)

you are hispanic. you are female. you have very high SATs and an interest in engineering. you can go anywhere you want.

pirt summed it up.

If I were you, i.e. with your stats and looking for a good non-nerdy engineering school I would have this list. Financial aid is not always simple, a place like Northwestern could end up enticing you so have a good list with a nice balance - you never know who will give you the best deal.

Reach
Princeton
Stanford

Slight-reach
Duke Pratt
Penn SEAS
Cornell
Northwestern

Safety
Michigan

Scholarship schools:
Local state school/ merit aid schools

Thank you slipper!

You might want to include Brown on your list. Very flexible if you should want to change majors. Not, however, known for stellar aid packages...

There are a few LACs that offer Engineering (Lafayette, Bucknell) that might be worth checking out.

Do you know your EFC?

slipper, you would recommend those schools even though my unweighted GPA is 3.6?? and my ECs are really weak?
and SBmom, what's EFC? if it's family income, it's around ~26,000

Why Princeton and Penn? How could you have an engineering list and leave off MIT. Id also suggest CMU as a match most likely.

I would never go to MIT, it's far too nerdy...and what if I need to switch majors? But thanks anyways

^MIT doesn`t excel only at engineering. Their econ departement is among the best, and I have heard their humanities are top notch as well. You would definitely have no issues changing major there.

The key point is great school that is FUN. MIT does have its fun but its campus is "cold" and "institutional," and only minority a portion of the student body really does have fun.

slipper, please answer my question: you would recommend those schools even though my unweighted GPA is 3.6?? and my ECs are really weak?

How is your rank (or estimated, people always say "we have no rank", but you have some idea I am sure. How good is a 3.6UW at your school. At mine it meant a top 25 school at others it means your local state school.
