Am I making the right move by...

applying to Princeton ED? I already fell in love with the school itself, what it has to offer, and the overall environment and vibe from the whole place. I'm just curious as to whether or not it is a realistic choice, and if I should do ED or EA to another school that I also really enjoy? Anyway, I'll give a rundown of the stats quickly:

GPA: 4.0 UW, not sure of exact number W
Rank: 2/330 (I've received a ton of crap for being the runner-up guy)
H.S.: I'd say very competitive based on the area (Long Island, NY) and the high GPA's
AP's taken: World History (4), Chem (5), U.S. History (5), English Comp. (4)
Senior Year AP's: Calc AB, Spanish, Bio, English Lit, U.S. Gov. and Econ.

New SAT: 2220 (680 V, 800 M, 740 W)
SAT II: 780 Math IIC, 770 U.S. History, 760 Chem, Math IC pending
ACT: 34 (35 Reading, 35 Math, 33 Writing and Grammer, 32 Science, 11 essay)

Essays: They come from the heart, that's all I can say
Recommendations: I love the male teachers that are doing mine, so I'm hoping they show me that same love back. My Research advisor is also doing one too.

E.C.'s:
-President of Model UN (getting the club rolling, it never attended a single simulation before my time)
-FBLA Fundraising Coordinator (Holding an Hurricane Katrina Adopt-A-School Program)
-Science Club Science Olympiad Coordinator (various medals, earned first trip to state competition in school history, "best new team" award at states too)
-Science Mentorship (Conducted research at Hofstra University, completed a research project and paper (for those interested, its title is "The Assembly of A Triple Detector Gel Permeation Chromatograph (GPC) For the Determination of the Molecular Weight Profile of Polyvinyl Acetate (PVAc)", which I have submitted to Siemens Westinghouse and will submit to INTEL and ISEF comps)
-Math Mentorship (Math fair participant, only came away with a bronze though)
-National, Spanish, and Science honor societies
- GW School of Engineering and Applied Science Medal
-FED Challenge Participant
-AP scholar with Honor
-National Merit Commended
-Work Experience: Tutor, Raymond James Brokerage Firm Assistant, H&H Bagel Store
- Solid amount of community service hours (not overdone, but sufficient)
-Last two summers: Hofstra Research (40+ hours every week), Penn State Summer Study Program [completed Philosophy of Law class and got an A (the college kids in the class didnt seem too motivated)]

I'm also an athlete (which unfortunately suffered from my devotion to academics)
-Varsity Spring Track (9-12) All-Division
-Varsity Cross Country (10-12) JV in 9th
-JV BBall (9-10) captain in 10th
-an aherniated disk in my back led me to Varsity Swimming (11-12) instead of bball

I'd deeply appreciate any comments about the question I previously posed, as well as suggestions as far as additional schools to look into. My list, as it stands as of now but vulnerable to change, also includes: Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and Wash U in St. Lou. Any response is appreciated, including those with criticism.

amazing ECs

umm... pton is kinda weird in the type of person they pick, though you prolly have a slightly higher than average chance at your other schools.

i say pton is weird becuz last yr they accepted this boy from my school who wasn't accepted anywhere else he applied to except penn state (his safety). he was rejected at carnegie mellon, hopkins, duke, and cornell. and he got deferred from pton ED, and accepted RD. strange i know.

This process does seem pretty unpredictable. Did this guy have any new accomplishments between ED and RD to put him put him over the edge (get accepted?)?

ummm i think he had some like national latin test awards. and some science bowl awards- a national physics thing too... maybe. not sure. he ran track, but wasn't that good and...that's about it. (all that i know of)

like he was smart, but not straight A's, probably a low 1500SAT, like ranked 30-40 out of around 330.

hope that helped.

bump, in need of one more opinion about question, especially if anyone can recommend a college to add to my list (my major as of now will be chemical engineering)

bump, in need of one more opinion before I finalize my choices.

You can take your Princeton lottery ticket like so many others, you have about a 10% chance if you're not a legacy, urm or recruited athlete. Personally, I'd use my ED at a school you have a better chance at such as the last 4 on your list.

I really have no qualifications to say anything as I am a senior myself, but I think you sound great and if you have great essays that aren't cliche all you can do is hope. Don't stress too much, college is what you make of it, not where you go. With your scores I am sure you will get into at least 1 great school, and you can make it amazing, so don't stress
