Am I mature?

Since I am not a good writer and it’s always hard for me to pour the ideas into words :(, I am completely disheartened and struggling with the Common App essay. So writing this thread, I wonder if this idea really shows that I am mature or if it is too cliche and superficial.

I plan to write ab how I see being an adult like through time, obviously gonna start off the imagination and expectation of an adult when I was a kid and then end with the realization that it doesn’t have to be the formula on how to grow and act like one, actually I became one each and every time I recount my disadvantages as fortunes and dare to undergo challenges

Thank you so much

This seems like a difficult topic to pull off. It is okay to write about something totally ordinary, an experience in childhood, an encounter on the street, anything really. If you have suffered misfortunes and faced them maturely, you can just write about them directly if you like, or cover them in a supplementary essay.

The purpose of essays is for the colleges to get to know you. It is okay also to write in a conversational style. If you feel insecure about this, record yourself talking or dictate to someone and then write it down, for a start.

Thank you so much.
I did write the main essay in a conversational style and got rejected :(. But it seems like I get stuck with the way I write an essay. Don’t know if I could improve in a month…
