Do you guys think I could get in? My grades are weak and I could use more awards....but I think i show that I'm really into current events and politics.....any current Middlebury students have any comments?

Your SAT scores are exceptional for Middlebury, and would qualify you (moderate reach) for some Ivies, and most certainly for other top-tier schools like Chicago, Wash U, etc. Don't worry too much about your grades because you are enrolled in the most rigorous curricula at your school.

Your class rank might be a factor and you want to strive to continue your grade improvement your senior year. 6 APs will WOW the Adcoms!

Why Middlebury? It's a great top-flight LAC, but do you have other options?

86% of incoming freshmen were in the top 10% of their h.s. class, and I'd imagine that the remaining 14% were tips (athletic or otherwise), URMs, and legacies. Your test scores are exceptional, but keep in mind that Middlebury does not give as much weight to standardized test scores as do comparable schools. You have some very good ECs. I think you have a fair chance, but if your GPA were higher, you'd have an excellent chance.

you have as good a chance as anyone. remember, it's not who has the most awards or the highest GPA... admissions is going to be looking at the PERSON... do you have a passion? do you show intellectual and worldly curiosity? many people with higher stats and more EC's will be turned down, and people with lower stats and less EC's will be accepted. dont focus on these things as much as being a "wholesome" applicant. your stats are fine. it's a crapshoot anyway... but your chances are good

The middle 50% of SATs at Middlebury are CR: 630-740, Math 640-740. So, you are in the zone on scores, but not at the top of the heap. Like a lot of applicants, you have a very good chance of getting into at least one or two very selective schools--but you can't get your heart too set on any particular one.

1) Middlebury has an acceptance rate of 14% --> nobody is 'obvious for Middlebury'

2) 80 odd percent of Middlebury acceptees were in the top 10% of their HS class...i would doubt if im in the top 20% --> if anyone were 'obvious for Middlebury' it would not be me.
