Am I missing out if I don't apply to a Residential Program?

Am I? A couple of them sort of catch my eye, but I can’t find one that I love in a house that I love. Is it still a good idea? It seems like it would be a good way to have a “group” freshman year…any thoughts?

No, you're not. You'll make friends with your hallmates, doesn't matter what program surrounds you.

really? that helps. and I decided I want to be in Ware, and theres a Women in Science one... and I'm going to be doing Vagelos MLS so.. i think it might be good for me. plus I really want to live in Ware, and doesn't being in the residential program help you get in to the house you want to be in?

no. youre not missing out. mostly because every single person i know in a res program says that they don't do anything. people who apply usually don't even care about the program; they just applied as a back door entrance to the quad (a good strategy).

Is it really an advantage to apply to a residential prgram in a college house you want to get into? Or is it just the case for quad, since i assume it is very competitive among freshmen?
