I started on the premed track pretty late (decided in junior year that I was going to do med school), so I'm probably going to take a year off. I have my senior left, and I have slightly more than 1 year of clinical research and I just began volunteering at a clinic this summer where I actually get to interact patients instead of filing jobs like in some hospitals. During my first two years, I mainly worked in non medically related fields, although I have spent a long time at one spot (and during the last year, working two jobs at once).

At school I don't really do much either except volunteering with my community service fraternity.

I keep on thinking that I need more extracurricular activities, but is what I have enough? Compared to one of my friends, who has one or two publications and is the leader of a club, I think that the EC's I have are not enough at all. I know that leadership positions are more important than having a wide set of EC's (quality over quantity right?), and I am working on that, but is what I have enough or should I try to do more (without doing so much that my GPA tanks), like volunteering at a second place and taking up a second research job?

Also, regarding leadership positions, will any leadership position in a club help (like webmaster or secretary) or will only big ones like president/VP of a club count?
