I have a 4.4 gpa and 28 act 29 superscored
I have taken it 5 times but i feel like i can still improve so will 6 times hurt me?( especially for early application)(sept act during senior year ok?) should i still take it and will colleges care or can i chcoose to only send them a couple and they only see that?
What was your score the first time?
What did you do to prepare for the ACT each time you took it?
Would it make more sense to try the SAT instead?
Where are you applying to college? Is the ACT and your GPA good enough for those places? Do you need merit-based aid that would require a higher ACT score?
If you studied before any of the 5 tests it is unlikely your score will improve on the 6th try. If you did not touch a study guide, then studying may help. I’d say move on. The bigger problem isn’t whether or not the schools can see the scores. The bigger problem is that you are stuck on this issue. Time you spend on one activity is not available for another. Almost anything would be a better use of your time.

Do you mean Computer Science?
Are you going to apply to UTenn and other Tenn publics?
I doubt that you’ll get into UNC. (Does UNC have computer science?)
UF will be a reach
Are your parents ok with paying the high OOS rates for these schools? Do you qualify for HOPE in Tenn??
Unless you do something different this time around (like study for the test), it’s likely a waste of money and time to take it again.
Georgia Tech is a reach, the middle 50% enrolled Freshman have scores between 30 to 33. However, I would think for OOS students it’s likely higher. They are not likely to offer any merit aid, and OOS tuition is over $32K a year. GT will superscore the ACT (I think)
UF is a low reach/high match, the middle 50% of Freshman range is 27 to 31. But it also uses holistic admissions, you’ll need strong EC’s, and they will likely not offer any merit aid and OOS tuition is over $28K a year. UF will not superscore the ACT.
FSU is a match (middle 50% ACT range is 26 to 30). You would need a 30 on the ACT to earn an OOS tuition waiver, which would bring tuition down from about $22K a year (OOS tuition) to about $6.5K a year (in-state tuition). FSU’s CS program is fairly good. I think FSU superscores the ACT.
UGA is a low reach/high match. The ACT middle 50% of admitted first-year students: 27 -31 (Avg is 29), but like GT, OOS students would likely need a bit higher score. UGA does superscore the ACT (they also consider all sections but have a focus on the English and Math sections).
As M2CK pointed out, it usually comes down to cost, and if you qualify for the HOPE, it’s hard to justify paying full OOS tuition rates at any of these OOS schools.
Good Luck!
You need to try the SAT. The ACT is far less generous with time, and after five attempts, I suspect time management is your issue. Example, for SAT reading you get 75 seconds per ?. The ACT gives you 52 seconds per ?. Get the official SAT study guide, view khan academy videos, do three practice tests this summer, and take the SAT. You are spinning your wheels and wasting a lot of time and money with the ACT.
Why are you applying to all OOS publics?
Are your parents willing and able to pay double (or more) what your instate schools will cost?
I mean my science acore we t up 5 pts this last time. Would taking it again matter to colleges hat allow me to choose scores to send?
And ill appky to ut knox but i want to go to ga tech… Chances?
^ Make a chance thread in that forum.
Definitely retake the ACT and try taking the SAT too. Your GPA is fine.
You can take the ACT as many times as you want, college won’t know. It is the SAT where you shouldn’t take it a bunch of times since it would hurt.
