Extra comments: My father graduated from Stanford in 1988, so I’m a legacy for Stanford.

Hoping to major in Human Physiology or Human Biology.

Any help will be much appreciated!!

With that profile, you’ve got a great chance. Don’t slip up on the essays.

Thank you so much! would you recommend the taking the ACT?

Nope, 2350 is very high. you are in the sweet spot already. you are better off using the time you would spend to prepare for the ACT on other things. I’d suggest taking a few SAT subject tests not just 2 - Math II (not I), Bio M (not E), Chem would be good if you wish to study Biology/Human Physiology. Also try taking AP Physics C exam. Dont slip up on the ECs either. You are on the right track. And once again work on your essays from the day the prompts are known. A bad set of essays can sink a 4.0 straight 5s APs/2400 at any of the holistic colleges.

i thought that Physics C was only for those interested in engineering? that’s how our school counsellor made it out to be, anyway.

Yes it is typically for engineering and physical sciences but it could vault you ahead of many other you are competing with. You don’t have to take the sat multiple times like some others. You might as well take advantage of the time freed and squeeze in physics c if possible. Can only help if you have the time and could potentially place you out of a lower level class.

with that profile I think for Maths you at least need to take Calc AB?

@labyrinth1997 is right, i missed that. you should do at least calc ab, and better if you do bc. not sure AP Micro/Macro will help you much for applying as a Biology major

ohh ok i see what you mean. would it be wise for me to switch AB out with Stat?

Maybe replace Mico/macro with AP calc. What other AP choices does your school offer?

That’s what I did. I took Multivariable Calc instead of Stat cause it looks better

Obviously, everything listed is very impressive.
Did I miss your GPA UW and W somewhere?
Do you plan to play volleyball in college? If so, are you already in contact with the coaches at these schools?

i forgot to post it, sorry! 4.00 UW, school doesn’t post W but i’m assuming 5.00 (no classes below AP level). I’m in contact with the coaches for Duke, Dartmouth, and Princeton, unfortunately I’m 1-2 inches too short to play for Stanford–only 5’11 outside hitter :frowning:

@labyrinth1997 school doesn’t offer multivariable calc. i could potentially look at doing it through an online program or at local community college

@khanam AP Govt, AP Physics 1/2/C, AP Computer Science A, AP Music Theory, AP Environmental Science, AP Art (i think), AP Calc AB/BC…I believe that’s all that’s offered that i haven’t taken

I thought you already took AP Comp sci?

I think AP Calc AB or better AP Calc BC instead of AP Stats makes sense. Stats is nice as an addon but Calculus is a must have when trying to be competitive for elite colleges. AP Psychology is actually a decent course if you wish to study neuroscience so you should definitely do that.

AP Macro/Micro just doesn’t fit into the rest of your profile and ambitions, you should replace it with something that fits your Biology focus better and to be honest, on thinking about it, AP Physics 2 would be of great use (C is probably overkill). Keep in mind that if you wish to get a degree in medicine, you will have to have 2 semesters of college Physics - so AP Physics 1 & 2 will help you have a solid enough foundation. AP Macro / Micro doesn’t help you in that way.

I took AP Computer Science Principles (there’s apparently a difference, though I’m not entirely sure what). I completely see what you mean. Will I be negatively affected if i don’t take Calc AB and just go straight for BC? I thought they built upon one another. And I can definitely switch out Micro/Macro for Physics 2.

You are clearly a very strong candidate for all of these. When you apply you may want to add a couple of safeties on the outside chance these don’t work for some reason that we’ve missed.

I suspect you are already aware of this but on the chance not…from my understanding, Ivy League schools don’t give athletic scholarships but are generous with financial aid (if you qualify). Duke and some other Non-Ivies would/might give you an athletic scholarship if they want you on the team so if that is attractive to you and your family maybe add some other schools with athletic scholarship potential? I have no idea which schools are a fit volleyball-wise but maybe something like a Northwestern or Vanderbilt might have the right academic profile as well?

Most do calc AB then BC but I am not sure you can do both in the senior year. maybe ask your GC? yes, i also would also echo @Big10Grad - do add a few colleges that give athletic scholarships. Elites don’t typically give any non need based scholarships/fin aid.

No, AB and BC overlap A LOOOOOT. I skipped AB and did BC in my junior year and did just fine. If you believe you can do BC then you should definitely go ahead for it.
