*Am I on the right path of getting accepted into ANY good College??*

I am still undecided on colleges because I am only a Sophmore in high school. I have between a 3.8 and 3.9 UW GPA, and a 4.2 W GPA. My course selection mainly focuses on Math and Science. I take the most rigorous classes my school offers. I've scored in the 99th percentile on math testing. I run both varsity indoor and outdoor track. I am part of my schools Key Club, Latin Club, and Science Club. I also plan on Joining the Latin Honors Society, Science Honors Society, and National Honors Society. I also participate in many science competitions Such as Science Olympiad, and thINc (NC science competition). I am also party of my churches handbells ensemble and choir emsemble. Ive been also playing piano for 5 years. I have many volunteer service hours for both my church and my school. How can I ensure acceptance to a good college?

your ECs are really solid just keep those grades and do your best on the SAT

What do you consider a good college (you are doing well so far, but good is subjective)?

Like anything from Boston College, to Georgetown, to possibly even an Ivy League (I know thats a far reach!)

You are defiantly on track for Boston College. Georgetown and ivies (they are about equally selective) are too hard to predict/it is too early. If your GPA is a 3.8 you will want to get that up, the other issue I see is that you are including things from middle school in your list of ECs (defiantly piano, I am assuming the community service hours as well), though colleges only look at what you do in high school. That being said you are on a good path, keep your grades up, do well on the SAT/ACT and began to develop leadership roles in your ECs.

Reduce the number of ECs you are involved in and seek out leadership roles in the ones you continue to pursue; top schools are interested in quality, not quantity – there are only so many hours in day and spreading yourself thin means you are not making an impact anywhere. Clearly, becoming team captain in a known math or science competition is worth more than being president of I-just-made-up-a-new-organzation-at-school.

The same with community service. No adcom will care how many hours you logged; what’s important is what you accomplished: Direct your own project within an existing organization or create a new one – then write about your challenges and successes in one of your essays.

Thanks! Im gonna be taking SAT prep classes which should help on my testing, hopefully Ill have some good luck in my future! :)
