I would chance you back, but I would have no idea what I am doing, and would most likely get it wrong, sorry ;P

Oops, I forgot to add that I just got a 610 on the World History SAT, I hope to get better on the ones I take next year and not this in.

Yes, you seem to be doing very well. Keep up the good work, and don’t forget to study for the SATs!

Bump, anyone else? thanks!

You have a great shot at your dream school UCSD. Stanford, and UCLA, as you might already know, are huge reaches. the rest you’re in at for sure(unless you score terribly on your SAT’s).
Good luck and make sure to work on your essays as well! They can make a huge difference.

thanks! I was going to start studying for the SAT soon :)

If you keep it up, I think you look great for UCSB. Remember to do well on your standardized tests and keep up your grades and ec’s.

“Boy Scouts (Will be Eagle)”

That will look really impressive.

So far, your grades are looking pretty good for UCSD.
I would aim for at least a 2100 on the SATs to be safe, and retake the World History SATII.
This might sound weird, but you might be in too many clubs. Your list of extracurriculars don’t show that you’re totally committed to something…it looks like you’re spreading yourself out really thin and not committing to anything in particular, club wise.

I’m attending UCSD in the fall, so good luck!!

@MonochromeSpring: Are you saying just UCSB? or do you jsut not know about the others? thanks though!!

@navyFIELD: Yea, I thought so :)

@fruitytart: Whew… thats pretty high, haha. So do you think this year I try to get leadership positions is those (there’s only 7 clubs) and which ever ones I do, I should keep?

Ohh congrats! What are you going to study?

haha yeah 2100 is high, but it’s just to be extra extra safe. But aim for at least a 2000 and you should be fine.
Definitely try to get leadership positions in your clubs. If you look at the UCSD point system, clubs don’t count for any points except if you have some sort of leadership position. I would say keep 3 clubs max, and pick the clubs that you’re really passionate about.
Colleges like to see that an applicant is committed to a specific area rather than an applicant who spreads him/herself out really thin, not having a real focus on anything.
By holding high leadership positions in a couple clubs will show colleges that you’re committed to a specific area. Plus, being historian in, say 5 clubs doesn’t look as good as being VP or President in 2 clubs.
Hope I helped!

I’m going into Economics :)

@fruitytart allright, that’s interesting, thanks! Do you know where I could look at the ucsd point system?

oh thanks! looks like I wont be getting too many of those 300 point options…

The point system is quite exploitable, but at least it makes the system much more transparent.
and like the people above suggest, get 2100+ for a safe UCSD. SAT IIs are not necessary anymore for UCs, but i would still take them seriously.

What do you mean by it being exploitable?

UCLA is definitely within reach. 2100+ with an improving GPA will help. For UCs, UW GPA matters the most, along with course rigor.

Unweighted? But I thought they used the uc gpa? (8 eight weighted semesters)
