AM i on the right track for UCSD

Texas
One - I wanted you to know what the rules were ahead of time so you could make plans-
Two - I know you wouldn't want to try to circumvent the rules for your own personal gain.

The consequences of being a resident vs a non resident for the purpose of UCSD includes: a different consideration for admission and a different tuition.

I didn't want you to think that just owning a house or even if you were to live in the house by yourself for a year, would be enough to be considered instate. That website is found by going through the UCSD Admissions site and was offerred as was my other advice with no malice or purpose other than to steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

Thanks for your imput Mr. B. I'm probably moving back anyway. And I've done some more research on UCSD for a project in school, and I've actually decided I'm not too sure about it.

I'm still considering it though, just not as heavily as before.

Anyone else have any ideas about my chances?

Mr. B, you are right. I checked on this, when we were thinking of moving to New Jersey. Owning a house doesn't mean residency.

Darn, even if it's worth $625K and rents for $24K a year. Well thanks for the heads up on that.

I'm not sure we're moving back anyway, but I'll always ponder UCSD as an option.

Someone posted that admissions criteria thing with the points, and I got over 8000, so I bet I could get in if I do move back.

Otherwise I'm considering the good colleges in Texas for science.

...the page has been removed, anyone willling to give me another way of calculating whether or not i would be accepted?

Im a sophomore and I got a D+ first semester in chem, and probably will get a D second semester, Junior year I am planning on taking it again and aiming for an A. Will the UCs look at the D or the A?Reason why I got that is because of my classes, Latin, AP euro, Alg 2 trig, English honors, and I was involved with a lot of clubs and school, and chemistry just seemed hard to me, no matter how much I tried. Because of chem, my gpa was really bad. The rest of my grades are good, except chem. What can I do inthe future to get accepted to UCSD?

^bumping up a really old thread O.o
Also why aren’t you taking chem in summer school? Wouldn’t that replace the grade?
Why are you taking it again the following year? Is that even allowed?
It would not be positive for you to take the same class again and get an A when you got a D the year before. Its pretty much taking the spot of a different class that you can take as a Junior. So they would look at both the A and the D and that you took the same class twice, which again I’m not sure if its even allowed.
That being said your chances haven’t been destroyed for SD. My friend had decent grades but got 2 D in his Junior year and is going to SD in the fall. I would show a drastic increase in your grades for junior year…making sure its a VERY solid unweighted GPA. Also its not required for you to take SAT 2 but do it for Chem. At least you can show yes you got a D, which you can explain in your essay or something, but you have improved and are can do better. Also why not just make a new thread instead of bumping an old one
Don’t be depressed just use this event as something positive and learn from it. Its fine to excel and take difficult classes but don’t mess yourself up. I mean it happened okay fine just don’t let it happen again Junior year because saying I had a hard schedule and messed up in one class won’t work since there are lots of students with the same or more difficult work load who didn’t mess up. Also get involved in something…I mean for my friend I think what got him in was the volunteering he did, which I guess helped balance the 2 Ds. Don’t lose hope you’re still can make it.
Good Luck to you.

It was moved again, I really want to take this point test. Help please?

@swaqqq: Points system is gone. All holistic now.

damn, thats dumb…
