Am i on track
i want to make sure i get into UCLA
okay pepes my GPA is a 3.5 i Am a SOPHOMORE i have no AP classes yet but i will have two next year i did 5 hours of community service and was rewarded by the national health department i was in the junior cadet class i love reading political science books and love tennis do i have a chance from now oh yeah i was ranked 176 out of 1376 freshman's also African American AND I AM IN YOUNG BLACK SCHOLARS PROGRAM
i

Even though you are a URM, if your school offers a lot of AP classes, you might want to make sure your grades are superb if you’re taking 2 AP classes, and 5 hours of community service isn’t much so join something, volunteer, so something a lot for the rest of high school, preferably something you enjoy.

Its UCLA so URM status does not help at all…

Get an 2100+ (2200+ preferably) and pull up the GPA a bid. That should give you really good chances at UCLA

URM will help, remembering their holistic approach of admission, unless your asian or white.

If you keep your original stats as they are with minimal extracurriculars and average gpa, then i agree with freezingbeast.

However in my situation, i had excellent EC, good gpa, though my SATs were 1900’s, still barely making UCLA’s range.
