Am I on the right track to being admitted into an Ivy League school?

Hey guys! I am currently a Freshman in high school and it is my dream to go to an Ivy League college. As of right now, these are the classes I've been taking;
- Level 1 Spanish
- Culinary Arts
- Geometry (this is a grade advanced for my year)
- Physical Science
- Health/Physical Education
- Global Studies
- Honors English

This summer I am planning to take a summer course so that I can skip Algebra 2 and go straight to Pre-Calculus. As of next year, I am going to be enrolled in AP U.S. History.

For extracurricular activities I am on the Freshman basketball team and I'm in one club.
I have A's in all my classes; therefore, my GPA is a 4.0.

If I were to keep this up for the next three years, do you think that I would get into an Ivy League? Should I join another sport and maybe a few more clubs? And do Ivy's care about community service hours? I guess I just need some advice on how to improve in order to ensure my chances of being accepted. In advance, thank you for your responses!

IMO it’s way too early for you to be making a chances thread. The Ivies are a high reach for you, just like they are for everyone. Do more research and find some colleges you like for reasons other than their US News rankings.

“Should I join another sport and maybe a few more clubs?”

Quality > quantity.

“And do Ivy’s care about community service hours?”

They’re not going to ask for a number of hours. Community service can be one of your ECs but it doesn’t have to be. If you want to do community service, then do it, but for God’s sake don’t do it so you can tell Harvard you have 200 hours because I highly doubt they give a damn.

GPA is great. For EC’s, they do look at virtually anything and it must stand out. Say a President or founder. Being in multiple clubs and only a member isn’t going to do much. Continue basketball and you should be okay. Do not consider Ivy League as only colleges like most do. You need to stand out and beat a 6% acceptance rate. But you might have to consider other factors such as SAT or ACT. Good luck, you still have a while.

And yes do things for your love and interest not resume. Like he said above. Please do NOT join clubs that you don’t like.

You’re doing fine…but do yourself a favor and don’t make your entire high school career about getting into an ivy league school. As you can see from many, many people here on CC…you can do all the right things absolutely perfectly and still not get in to an ivy. You’re a freshman…pace yourself. Work hard at challenging classes. Develop some strong mentor relationships with teachers or advisors who can take a more vested interest in your high school journey. Join clubs and teams that inspire you actively participate in a leadership role as soon as the opportunity comes to you. The rest will fall into place.
