I am currently a junior in a San Diego, CA high school and I am completely worried about college and getting into the right school, with my dream university being UCLA or UCSD (also planning to apply to UCI, UCD, UCB, UCSB, USC, SDSU) majoring in Aerospace engineering or Mechanical Engineering. So here is my current standing in high school...

Rank: I am currently #1 for Class of 2016 in my school (not sure if that even matters)

GPA: I had straight A's in Freshman year with a 4.0 for both semesters; I had straight A's in Sophomore year with 2 AP classes with a 4.33 for both semesters, and I currently have 2 AP classes and 2 Honors with straight A's and a 4.6 GPA
(so far). I plan to take 4 more weighted classes for my senior year.

Tests: I got a 5 on my AP Art History exam, and a 4 on my AP European History, and I recently took my SAT and I got a score of 1710 (not that great in my opinion and not close to what universities want). I am planning to take more SATs and AP exams later on, and I plan to take the ACT some time next year.

Extra Curricular: I have been in JROTC for 3 years (planning to be in for 4), I have been in its Drum Corps team for 2 years, its Academic team for 3 years, and I have a leadership position in its Battalion Staff. I am also the president for our school's engineering club and I am part of club called "Club Interactive" which participates in community service. I also have volunteered at a local hospital and participated at a summer program at SDSU for a week to get the college experience and learn about the fields in STEM. I am also planning to get an internship over December at a civil engineering company and an internship at a computer engineering and telecommunications company, Qualcomm.

So, I need help, do you think I'm doing alright, because I see all these other students and their standings are way better than mine, making me quite worried about admissions to colleges when I am a senior next year. Please tell me what I need to improve on or need to add to better my standing to get admitted in to my dream schools.
