Am I on the right track?

this kid’s just trying to show of and get attention. smh. (OP, not excavalier)

■■■■■ much?

First of all, thank you Excavalier for the lengthy response. Summer programs are definitely something I’m going to look at, and I’ll look around and see if I can find any internships that will accept someone of my age. About the bachelors I guess you’re right, but it seems like it’s not that much work compared to how much colleges will like it. It does seem like a good idea to make my own club, and I’m going to start brainstorm ideas about what I could do. Any hints or tips are appreciated.

Also, Political Protege, consider this: If one takes 60 credits at their local community college and spreads them out over 6 semesters, that’s pretty reasonable, right? Then, what if said person takes around 25 AP classes with 4 in 9th grade, 10 in 10th grade, and 11 in 11th grade. That would be almost every single credit required for a bachelors degree, although I’ll probably have to take some classes at a local university.

Listen to Excavalier and julieannab. I particularly like what julieannab said, as long as you have a rigorous course schedule and good grades, ivys dong care if you take 8 APs by the time you graduate high school (mine only offers 8!) or 20. If your course is rigorous, you’re fine. Don’t kill yourself with classes. If you actually enjoy working yourself to death, which some people do, go for it. Take as many classes as you’d like. If you are doing this just to look good, then don’t.

The ivy colleges will see a kid who was too focused on school, and who didn’t have enough focus on other things. Harvard doesn’t want some kid who stays in the library all day studying. Make sure you have enough time to show depth in your ECs. Depth is key. Don’t bother with being well rounded, have depth in one/a few subjects that interest you (I heard this from an admissions officer at Penn). And this interest doesn’t have to be academic. Hell, my interest is tennis. While I don’t plan on playing in college (although I could…), I have a freaking enormous amount of depth in tennis which includes leadership, volunteer work, creating a charity tournament, and years of competition and practice. Excuse my bragging, but that is depth. Take science, and go deep into it. Try to find internships with it, research with it and whatever else you can find.

Last, you’re a teenager, chillax. I can’t be certain, but you may regret spending your teenage years bogged down in the books. Have fun, be a kid, no matter how smart you are, you should still have fun.

Long post #2

Guys… his schedule is nothing out of reach, all achievable.
As far as ECs go, I don’t think you have enough. Do more of it, but be sure that what you do more of, is relevant to your interests.

I don’t think your high school would let you graduate with that many APs. Most high schools have a number of PE and Elective courses necessary you need to complete before graduation. And idk how you are going to take 11 APs in a day with a normal schedule being 5-8 periods.

What are you honestly going to do with a Bachelor’s degree at the age of 16/17? No corporation would ever hire you until you’re 18 anyway.

Take it slow bro. You have ALOT of time.

Hey guys, I guess that I’m just going to update this thread.
My grades from last year were A’s in all subject both semesters but I received a B in Spanish both semesters. I’m taking Biology and Psychology at a local university over the summer and I’m also collaborating with biotechnology professors at said university to create a mathematical model of several organs, and this project will serve as my science fair project for next year and I will hopefully be able to get some good results from it like possible patents. I’m going to continue all of my ECs from last year but I’m also going to join some more like Science Olympiad and I will also gain a leadership position for the Science Bowl team. In addition to that I will participate in several Olympiads like the AMC and USABO(which I decided not to do freshman year). My schedule for next year looks like the following:
AP English
AP Micro-AP Macro
AP Physics C
AP Calculus BC
Government Honors-AP Government
AP Computer Science
AP Chemistry

I’m also going to be taking Multivariable Calculus and some Biotechnology classes at my local university during the spring semester.

Am I still on the right track for top tier schools like HYPMSC?

Whenever I read posts like these, I feel a bit suicidal.

lol you’re gettin B’s (or at least borderline As) and you’re taking so many APs…

lolUSABO. Do AMC, try to make usamo or at least aime. Science Bowl is awesome especially if you make nationals.

if all goes well should get in anywhere

Wow!!! You’re so smart. It’s great that you’re taking so many AP’s in 9th grade…what grade are you in? How are you allowed to take so many AP’s?

Foodlover001 My school let me take some of the prerequisites online during the summer and they also allowed me to skip certain classes if I promised to go straight to their AP counterpart. As for the AMC is qualification for the USAMO examination considered a hook at top universities?

You’re on the right track baby you were born this way. Don’t hide yourself in regrets.

^Heh, I’m digging the Lady GaGa reference.

Anyway OP, you are definitely on the right track. Maybe you can use this thread to keep us posted on your progress? Your freshman schedule far exceeds what I had, and I’d still say I’m on the “right” track.

Darn I was gonna do that…

Progressivism I had that in mind when I started this thread and I’ll definitely be updating my progress at least once a semester.

Yeah, you must be smarter than all of us combined.

Did you skip a grade since you’re 13, but in 9th grade?

LOOK AT ME GUIZE LOOK AT ALL MY APS GUIZE.

C’mon, OP. If you’re looking for more things to do, take up the didgeridoo or bagpipes or something. Branch out a bit, mate.

My only response to you right now OP: -__-
