Hi everyone!
I’m a junior now in high school, and am wondering whether any fellow CC’ers can offer their advice on my situation:
HS GPA: 4.0 (However, I currently have a very bad grade in AP U.S. History; will explain at the end of this post)
Class Rank: ~7% (Very worried about maintaining and improving this!)
Rigorous courseload: 6 AP classes, including AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, and an AP-weighted independent study course.
Extracurriculars:
Health Occupation Students of America (Secretary of my chapter during sophomore year and placed 5th at state)
National Spanish Exam Gold Medalist
Indian Culture Club VP
JV Tennis (2 years; discontinued this year, and offered a spot on varsity next year)
Leaders Investment Club (national finance network; I’m the youngest member)
Investment Club (Not just simulated stock market games; I self-study courses from MIT and Yale and implement some core concepts into the club curriculum)
National Honor Society
National Technical Honor Society
Here are the ECs which I value the most:
Business Professionals of America (3rd at State Competition during freshman year, and 1st at National Competition sophomore year)
I am actively volunteering at a Harvard global economic alliance program.
Founder at a national high school finance journal. I’m still growing this site into other schools and states.
Not sure if this helps, but I also run a personal development and self improvement blog. Trying to grow this as well.
Other facts:
Ethnicity: Asian (Indian)
Hooks: No legacy at any American school, and I wasn’t even born in the U.S.
Great relationship with my school counselor and several teachers, so I am not worried about LORs.
I’m hoping to leave a good college with foundations in international business and economics. For this reason, I am targeting the Huntsman program at Wharton, Yale, and Dartmouth.
Am I on the right track for any of these schools? What do you suggest I do to make my application stronger?
Cheers!
