Am I on the right track?

Ok, so I am kinda' worried about my future. Am I taking the right classes? Are my grades high enough? What about my extracurriculars? So here's the deal- I'll give you a few of my stats and anyone who wants to can give me advice on how to improve what will become (in a few more years) my college application. And then, anyone who want to can post their stats, too.

Ok, soo...

Academics-
This year I'm only in Honors Bio, but only honors bio and english courses are offered to freshman. My GPA for the first trimester was above a 4.0, but I can't find the exact GPA at the moment. I made high honors (4.0 and no grade lower than a B).
Next year I anticipate being in Spanish III honors, Chem honors, English honors (maybe), us history honors (maybe AP), and Geometry honors.
Also I took the PSATs this fall and got:
reading 63
math 60
writing 69

ECs-
Volunteering
I volunteered a lot at two hospitals last summer and will continue to do so this summer. I will also be getting my EMT certification after I turn 16 this summer, so I will be volunteering as an EMT throughout the year.
Clubs
I am co-founding a Medical Science Club this year that will be up and running by next fall.
I am a member of the Spanish Club, and when I'd like to eventually get inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society.
JSA (debate club)
History Club
I am joining SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) next year, and since there are no other people in my class in the club, I may be president senior year.
I'm on Varsity cheering and will be captain senior year.
I've been taking dance lessons for over 10 years and will continue to do so.
Other
I'm going to NYLF on Medicine this summer.

Would you say that I am on the right track for a freshman? And I also have more things I could put, but how important are activities in grades 8 and below? Also, if I am captain of a team or president of a club senior year, does that even go on my college application?

Thanks so much, guys! I love that there is a place where confused people like me can go to get answers!

You're fine. You're an overacheiver already. 8th grade and below doesn't really count. And yes, senior year counts.

Haha, thanks so much! The thing that confuses me is how does senior year count if you send out applications junior year?

Sigh. I'm so naive.

It counts because your senior grades count. Also, your leadership senior year counts, too. It's like the cherry on the ...milkshake.

You send applications out at the beginning-middle of your senior year, not your junior year.

You don't apply as a junior. Senior only.

At some colleges, your freshman year doesn't even matter. Just a heads up.

Gr. I frustrate myself.
By the way, love the analogy, asdfjkl1!

That's what the college admission process does to you. Kills your analogies.

Seriously, just enjoy HS and take advantage of all the opportunities you have. The things you enjoy the most are the ones that help you most. Don't be doing things just for your application.

Freshmen don't really need to be worried, but it's great that you're taking the time to learn about the college admissions process now.

Senior year counts because, if you are an overachiever, you have a rep to maintain, right? And also, on the apps, you can get a full semester grade on there. Plus, the APs can save a whole bunch of $$$ for college credits.

Thanks so much guys!
And the last time I posted, in one of the "Rate My ECs" threads, someone said that my ECs were good, but I needed to show more leadership and focus. So by looking at my ECs would you say that you can tell what I'm interested in?

Carissa, I thought that I was interested in business when I was younger. Yet, I come out of HS hating everything about business. You change. Do what you like. Seriously.

The most important clubs you join may be the ones you join latest.

I totally get that. I was just wondering if I am on the right track so far. So, can you tell, by looking at my ECs what my interests are? And am I showing enough leadership?

Wait a minute..you're a freshman and you're almost a year older than me?

Back to the main point, your ECs are fine, and since freshmen aren't expected to show leadership, you've exceeded expectations for that.

I'm a Freshman :)

I don't have a GPA because I've only completed two classes, which were online, and the results haven't been given to my school. But even though my grades haven't been reported, for the one class I know the final grade, I have a 5.0w/4.0un

You have no common sense

Ridiculous stuff for a freshmen and you're asking that

Maybe I don't have common sense, but isn't that what it takes to get into upper tier schools? Going way beyond the average?

Oh and

Summer science Olympiad Science fair forensics 3rd place

should be Summer Science Olympiad Forensics 3rd place... not science fair.

Well, now do you see why I'm stressed out? People tell me I'm doing fine, but then I see someone like aigiqinf!

I have unique opportunities. My school is new and only has freshman, so there are more chances for leadership... more chances to represent my school... and it is easier to win science fairs and things around here.
Also, I don't have much free time.

Besides... I think everyone is stressed out.... I don't believe I really stand a chance at Harvard... but I plan to apply anyway... see what college has done to us?

I don't consider myself to be an outlier at all for High School... maybe I've been on CC too long, no? I just wish everyone could have the straight facts.
