Am I On Track For Brown

<p>Brown University, along with Columbia, are my dream schools. I really loved them since I was young and when I visited them I was even further Blown away. Anyway, I asked those on the What Are My Chances Forum but would like to here answers from actual students here who know what Brown admits; just so I have general knowledge of it:</p>

<p>Objective:
~GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.4 W
~SAT: 2100 (670M,730W,700CR); trying to increase math, looks like a possible 2200 in May
~Rank: School does not rank but I’m sure of 1/70
~School: Private School
~Grades: I have had only 3 A’s in total through Junior Year, I may actually move up to only 2 A’s, the rest are A+'s
~PSAT:204, Commended
~Race: White
~State: Maryland</p>

<p>Classes:
~AP Gov (5 on exam)
~AP Lang (11th)
~AP Art History (11th)
~AP US History (11th)
~English 9,10 Honors
~Biology Honors (10th)
~Pre Calc Honors (11th)
~Chemistry Honors (11th)
~Conceptual Physics Honors (9th)

–>I have the most honors and AP’s in my class,
–>Anticipated Classes for senior year: AP Bio (Can only take in senior year), AP Calc AB, AP Literature, AP Latin, AP Econ/Chem (AP Chem can only be taken in Senior year)</p>

<p>EC’s:
~Over 400 Community Service Hours with Piano and Hospital Work-awards for service at hospital (scattered in other areas also but these are the two big ones)
~Published in Poem Book-Acclaimed (
~Also a semifinalist for a poem competition related to the book
~Mock Trial (Captain) of County Finalists (11th, 12th); really only upperclassmen are made attorneys.
~Awards for National Latin Exam: Magna Summa Cum Laude (Highest) and Cum Laude
~National Latin Honor Society (9,10,11,12)
~Ski Club (9,10,11,12)
~Golf for fun (9,10,11,12)
~Piano for 12 years, classically trained
~National Honor Society (President, probably, for next year) (11,12)

~Summer Internship this coming year at Cancer Research Facility in NYC
–>First ever highschool student to be admitted into it, it is actually for Graduate Students and College Students</p>

<p>Essays and Recs:
~I’m and Excellent Writer, so probably good essays
~I have two teachers in English and Science that LOVE Me, so I will get good recs from them.</p>

<p>Major:
~I am interested in a double major of English and Biology, becuase I wish to go on to Law School and be a patent attorney, which needs biological experience.</p>

<p>Increase your math. Grades are awesome. Take calculus, and advanced science, literature?, and a history. What about foreign language. Did you not write that it? I see latin, but not under your class list. Extracurriculars, when I look at them, are SCATTERED. I don’t see any clear focus. They are diverse, but maybe too diverse. I don’t get as sense of a clear passion.</p>

<p>What exactly are your writing about in your essays?</p>

<p>I am planning on taking AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Bio, Maybe AP Chem/Econ. I am just about to run out of an AP History, the only remaining is AP Euro. Anyway, Yes I did take Latin for three years, I might take AP Latin/Vergil next year as well.
I really do love the extracurriculars that I do, I have to say I am a very scattered person, I can not be pegged to a specific subject or section, but I love what I do.
I am not sure what I will right about as an essay, but I am a great writer so I feel as though I will have good essays (I am also going to begin the process early, hopefully). Perhaps I will write about piano, because I truly have a passion for that above almost all other extracurriculars; hopefully I can tie it in.</p>

<p>haha yeah, and “…not sure what I will RIGHT about as an essay, but I am a great writer so I feel…”
but I do understand that we good writers still tend to loosen up a bit on the Internet. :)</p>
