Am I on track for Ivies, Duke, Wake, and Vanderbilt?

bump…bump

bump…bump

Your chances are great. I am still kind of hung up on you class size of 39 kids. What high school do you attend? I attend U of C lab school which has 120 kids in a grade and i am curious to learn about your high school.

I attend a small, private school with a rigorous curriculum, if this helps!

yea, the 29 kids thing might hurt you a bit imo :stuck_out_tongue: however your GPA is flawless, and i think everything hinges now on your SAT score…so go ace that  your ECs are pretty solid, i wouldn’t say enormously outstanding, but they’ll add a few points to your app at the top level schools. basically, make it your number one priority right now to test well and you should have an excellent shot at your dream schools  GL!
p.s. chance me back if you have time? :P

Sure, I’ll chance you back( I’m sick right now, have tons of time!). :(

I appreciate your kind comments, and I actually am getting the oppurtunity to take a practice SAT in 2 weeks (school just offered it yesterday)-see how it goes!

fuzzyfirebunny, what’s your thread?

It’s

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/704436-chance-junior-sil-vous-plait-p.html

and aww i’m sorry you’re sick :frowning: better not be the swine flu lol :stuck_out_tongue: and GL with the practice SAT! i did awful the first time but then improved my score by 200 pts the second time around…so the more practice the better :P

Thanks for your concern fuzzyfirebunny, and I don’t have the swine flu -it’s just a nasty sinus infection.

Thanks for the good luck and I’ll chance you back right now! :)

bumpppppppppppp

Any more advice? I’ll chance back! :)

Hey, my school typically sends 1-3 kids to Ivy League-ish schools a year, and I am the only one who is showing interest in my grade. Does this help?

I’ll chance back!

Wow 20 inventions? I’m sure not a lot of applicants can write that on their applications. You are sure to stand out. I have a friend who had like a 96 GPA and 1900s SAT get into Duke primarily because of his ECs. I think you will be a strong candidate if you get a good SAT score. Because of your legacy at Brown, I think you can be a strong applicant there as well. Though not that sure about the others.
Just one question, Bio-medical engineering to a Patent Lawyer? Whoa. haha

Thanks FearNoEvil, good advice and kind comments!

Yeah, I want to go to Brown primarily because I can take all kinds of engineering courses, and don’t want to pay 20 grand for a patent everytime I invent something in the future, so I figured that I can do all the paperwork for myself and others!

I know, seems weird to switch like that, but I feel like that this is my best career path at this time.

i believe basketball and your inventions are your best hooks. i think if you cannot get scouted for basketball, perhaps dwelve deeper with debate. go to some national or state competitions (if your school can’t get you to sign up for some, perhaps ask a public school friend to help you find some), and try to win something there!

i really think you’re on track! good luck!

Thanks imacaroni! Yeah, I’d LOVE to play ball at Brown, and next year I’ll actually be able to attend the state debate tournament, possibly win regional tournaments.

Best of luck to you, and thanks for chancing me! :)

Thanks for chancing me
Honestly, you stand a chance at all these schools.
Wake and Vandy you have a realistic chance
the others are crapshoots-i tell this to everyone
it’s worth it for you to try though…you have a chance :)

Thanks rocket6loiuse, you’re so nice! Good luck on where you end up applying! :)

Update: I was just elected to student government for next year (junior) and tied for first at a spanish culture bee at state university. Does this help? I’ll chance back!

bumppppppp

bumpppppppppp

If you’re looking at engineering, look at Cornell. Best in the Ivy League (if I may so myself, being a Cornell 13). I think you have a solid shot at those schools. You can look at my past posts to see my chance threads. I was rejected at: Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Brown. Accepted at NYU, Cornell, Tufts, BC, Rutgers. No hooks.
