Whatever dude, please don’t be that way!!! ;)

just keep up the good work, do well on the SAT or ACT, and I’m pretty sure you can get into any of the colleges your thinking about.

Wooo! Game 7s this weekend, but I’m calling LA and BOS victories!!! More advice if you have any; I will chance back-just leave the link! :)

Hey everybody, hope that your weekend is going great! :)

I’m just wondering how hard the SAT is compared to a practice test.

Today I took a free “Practice SAT” that was offered by Kaplan. I went in cold (without any preparation whatsoever) and it honestly felt too easy to be the real thing; it felt waterd-down. I wonder if all Kapln’s tests are like this (we kept the question booklet!) or if my school tried to quell anxiety with a rip-off test.

I assume that this is what happened, but how can I prepare for the real thing? Any really helpful books? Did anybody else feel like this?

Please help because I feel like I wasted my Saturday morning!!! ;)

You should be in based on what you’ve told us. I suggest you don’t overstrech however. Live your life, stop and smell the roses because your current schedule will start a life long relationship with your psychiatrist, marriage counselor, and chiropractor.

PS-Ivies are overated. CalTech, Rose-Hulman, Georgia Institute of Technology are all good schools you should have on your list. Good job so far though! :D

I wouldn’t say that Ivies are overrated, but there are definitely other good schools like Duke, MIT, GT, Caltech, Stanford, UMich, Georgetown, Emory, Williams, Pomona, Amherst, etc.

I thought that I mentioned that I was looking at schools like Duke, MIT, Hopkins, and others in my original post if you missed them! BTW, I don’t feel like I’m insane (or going to be) and I don’t have relationship problems; I’ll take your comment as tongue-in-cheek, Anthony G1991! I DO have a life, so you don’t have to worry about that!!! :)

BTW, does anybody know the difference between a free Kaplan “Practice SAT” and the real thing? Mine felt generically watered-down and simplified. Has anybody had a similar experience?

Again, does anybody know the difference between the real SAT and the free Kaplan Practice Test? I took it a few hours ago and I feel jiffed because it seemed simplified/watered-down. I know that I should calm down, but I wasted a Saurday morning…LOL ;)

Award/Honors Update:

–Scholarship based on interest/success in science or athletics and leadeship+ high moral character (school award)

–elected to student government next year

–19th in state for trajectory at State Science Olympiad (with broken catapult)

–Tied first at “X State University” Spanish Culture Bee

–Qualified for State Championship Debate Tourney (earned “Merit” for the year)-pretty easy though, not sure how impressive it actually is

–Have been invited to attend “X Leadership/Ambassador Program” for like 6 years in a row. Oppurtunity to study abroad and by invitation only (not sure how tough it is to get in though?)

Thanks for the input!!! :)

big dreamer, you really, really need to stop updating/bumping this thread.

You are a SOPHOMORE. So much can happen in two years.
You have great EC’s. Just do well on the SAT and you’re fine.

Frankly, I don’t think anyone really cares about this thread anymore to chance you. Sorry.

Yeah, I agree my enlightened poster! But my question now is:

Does Kaplan rip you off the real SAT experience with the free practice SAT??? I mean is it way easier?

Just curious, exactly how much are you planning to spend on patenting your 20 inventions? Doesn’t it cost at least $1,500 per patent, even if you fill out all the paperwork yourself? I think the inventions are major hooks for you, I’m just not sure whether it’s feasible to get many of your inventions patented before you start applying. But if it’s your career ambition, I’m sure you understand the process much better than I do. Good Luck with everything!

Thanks Sirensong, that’s very nice of you! I actually don’t plan on patenting all of them, and I will forfeit up to 90% of the proffits by going to a company I know that takes care of all the fees for you and applying for patents (hence such a small cut for the inventor). I really want to be an inventor and patent attorney!

Does anybody know about the Kaplan test? I’m starting to get ticked!!! (LOL)

No practices tests are usually an accurate representation of the actual test. Not even College Board practice tests match the real SAT “exactly”. And don’t worry, I don’t think you wasted a Saturday morning. Practice tests are meant to expose you to the type of problems you will most likely encounter on the SATs; they usually come off as “watered-down” to either boost confidence or just to give off a generic unbiased feel. Kaplan’s are usually more bland than others though…
Who knows? Maybe you’ll find the actual SAT just as easy… ;)

Thanks for the info fairy_dreams! I could feel that this test was basically a rip-off, but then again, who doesn’t like free things…? LOL

I wish that the real SAT was as easy, and thank you for the kind input! :)
