<p>I said I wear American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Abercrombie. I save up money over a period of months and spend it. I have a job.</p>

<p>Maybe they're not up to your prep standards, but most people construe Abercrombie, etc. as preppy. Although whatever I;m not a prep anyway. I wear what looks good.</p>

<p>I always thought the word "prep" came from preparation. Not really preppy as in rich.</p>
<p>Most people that I know, teenagers, think Abercrombie is. People who are more...wealthy...might think like J Crew...which is a little more expensive. Abercrombie, American Eagle are considered to be pseudo-prep but if they look preppy who cares. Its whats hot at my school</p>
<p>Yeah. Aeropostale, AE, and Hollister like...attempt to look preppy. They're not really preppy though. Some of Abercrombie is considered preppy, but most of it is like Hollister, AE, Aero, etc. </p>
<p>Somebody1, according to me, the urban dictionary, and a few others, prep stores are Polo Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, J Press, etc.</p>
<p>A lot of people at my school think preps are people who wear Aeropostale, AE, and Hollister. They're wrong.</p>
