So, I am a senior who will almost definitely be attending Georgia Tech next fall. I can't decide which major I would find more interesting, chemical or aerospace engineering because I love chemistry and love the whole concept of space travel (obviously I would be more interested in astronautical engineering if Tech offers it). Well, I was accepted to GT as a ChE major, and I saw this on the GT website (GT Catalog : Aerospace Engineering : Minors). Can I major in Chemical Engineering and minor in Aerospace? I don't understand how that makes sense, but apparently it is possible haha.

ChBE and AE overlap more than you would think, particularly in the areas of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. The minor requires 5 AE courses in addition to the ChBE courses. ChBE allows 2 technical electives and 1 free elective, all of which can be from the AE curriculum. So the minor will require you to take 2 classes beyond what’s required for your BS.

Wow, thats great news! I always thought Aerospace was closer to Mechanical, but if chemical is similar too then I may just pursue this plan!

Chemical, Mechanical, and Aerospace are all similar. Both AE and ChE have their foundations in ME. ChE broke off from ME with the detailed study of catalysis (chemical reactions) and AE broke off from ME with the detailed study of propulsion. But to this day you’ll see considerable overlap among the three. In fact, you’ll see some overlap with those three and EE, specifically in the area of control systems (though EE began as an offshoot of Physics).

BanjoHitter, you are a knowledgeable poster.
