Am I reading this right?

Is OOS tuition for W&M 12,000 plus room & board? That seems outrageously cheap.

Per semester, yes.

oh dang...that's like the same as anywhere else. lol ok thanks. thought i'd found a bargain.

Right now it's about 16,000 PER SEMESTER for tuition, room, and board. Sorry.

That's not the same as anywhere. It's a good $10k cheaper per year than a similar private school would be.

...but W&M is public. So it's the same as any public school for an OOS student.

William and Mary may technically be a public school, but it has the feeling of a small private liberal arts school because of it's size. The student to facultry ratio is much better than most schools of academic equality, and the class sizes are significantly smaller. If you're looking to go to a top notch school where you'll get a lot of individual attention, then W&M is definitely a bargain.

W&M is not like most public schools, as Sparkosity says... Check out the populations of the other top public schools like Berkeley, Texas, Michigan, etc... UVA comes the closest, and it's like 2.5 times as big.

And W&M has a 22% acceptance rate for out of state students which is lower than Duke! It also has the highest SAT average (1360) of any American public university.
