Am I required to take courses in summer?

I got admitted to Cal this fall. I listed a course in my UC application for Summer 09 because it is a major prep course for another UC. I am going to attend Cal so I think I don't need to take that course any more. But I'm also wondering if I'm required to take the course just because I must follow the schedule I made in my application. Anyone has any ideas?

no u dont have to take it, email ur Admissions Officer (log into myberkapplication to see who it is) and tell them about the situation. he/ she will approve the drop granted the class is not a specific requirement in your conditions of admission. since u said the class isn’t required by berk, it shouldn’t be a problem. Make sure to drop the class before deadlines!

Here is what my condition of admission says:
You may not attend summer session 2009 for the purposes of completing a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units, IGETC, or UC Reciprocity requirements. However, if you choose to attend summer for any other purpose (major requirements, courses of interest, etc) you must notify your UC Berkeley Admissions Officer by email.

So is that clear enough that I don’t have to take the course in this summer? I have emailed my admission officer but she didn’t response yet. sigh…
