Am I retarded...? AP Psych...

I just got my test back. I got 40%.

It was just about history and the 7 perspectives....

Is there a policy that says if you fail the course, you can't take the exam??? Do schools do that? There is a rumor in my school that says if you don't get 80% in an AP Class, they won't let you take the exam.

No, I don’t believe that there’s such a policy unless your school pays for your exam [there mite be some limitations since the money is coming out of their pockets]

I suggest making flashcards for the next quizzes/tests. They can help a lot, especially in a class like AP Psych.

No seriously, I feel really stupid right now. I am doing well in all my other AP classes like PHysics B and Chemistry and Calculus AB.

But I am failing in what most people say an “easy AP”. Like if you don’t get a 5, you are ■■■■■■■■ feeling.

well, it’s only september, so just wait I’m sure you’ll get better

the first test is usually always a bad one. i scored lower than usual on my first calculus test. you just have to work at it and you’ll score better and probably end out doing fine.

Thanks for all the encouragement, but seriously. How did it turn out at the end for people who did really poorly on their first exam…?

Dude, stop freaking out. It was one test. Just study harder next time.

I just had my first AP Pysch test on the same material you just described, and the only thing I did to get a good score was studying.

Just be calm about it, take note of what went wrong, and make sure you’re ready for the next test.

One test isn’t gonna kill you.

I did bad on tests all year and I got a 5.

Compare yourself to your classmates. Maybe your teacher is really hard.

Try going over one single concept each night before you go to bed, and think only about that concept as you go to sleep… haha.

buy a review book asap and read it along with your textbok

I am, i got the Barron’s

Yeah, since its your first test, you now know how hard your teacher is. I recommend that you buy a AP Psych Book–>Barrons. It’s arguably the best on on the market. If you want further review you can always go to [Welcome to AP Psychology Review Website](http://classes.burrburton.org/Social_Studies/dmiceli/AP%20Psychology/AP%20Psychology%20WebTest/Index.htm) for practice questions!! More links can be found in the threads entitled “Chelsea’s Ultimate List of review websites etc”

This is one of the reasons why I tell people to just forget about taking the actual class. Its easier to just self-study it. Most of the time the teacher makes you do pointless projects, pointless reading (that you don’t need to do) or taking tests that aren’t specifically designed to cover material that is tested on the exam.

Let me tell you this. AP Psych is EASY, actually very easy IF you prepare for it appropriately. You will only get overwhelmed if you spend your time learning material you never need to learn in the first place. Here is the topics covered on the exam:

History and Approaches (2-4%)
States of Consciousness (2-4%)
Learning (7-9%)
Cognition (8-10%)
Motivation and Emotion (7-9%)
Developmental Psychology (7-9%)
Personality (6-8%)
Testing and Individual Differences (5-7%)
Abnormal Psychology (7-9%)
Treatment of Psychological Disorders (5-7%)
Social Psychology (7-9%)

Make sure you cover those topics and only those topics. The ap psych exam consists of multiple choice and essays. Thats it.

I can’t self-study. My school has a policy that you can’t self-study and ask the school to order the exam for you even if you pay for it. They say you must take the course ans get around 80% or higher to be eligible to take exam.

Quick question, do you have to take an AP test through your school or are there other places? I was thinking about self-studying, but my school doesn’t offer the AP’s

Has to be in my school. That’s what the AP coordinator said.

"Has to be in my school. That’s what the AP coordinator said. "

SHE IS…IS…ARGGH!!!

listen, what she is doing is she has that policy for a reason. It is for

A) she doesn’t feel like doing it
B) she wants the potential AP students to take your school’s APs so they can stay alive; she doesn’t want to lose anybody

Now, what you can do is take and register for the exam AT ANOTHER SCHOOL.

anyone can self study.

Can I register whenever??

I think you have to wait till January to register at the earliest.

ALso, you have to find that other school that would be willing.

Do you think an IB school would do that…? You think an AP student can take an IB exam without taking the course?
