Am I Safe?

Hi guys so I really want to aim for ucsb or even UCI…and my sat score is a 1400 with a 21 on the essay. My uc GPA is a 3.92…yeah I know I messed up soph year pretty badly but did well junior year. I’m kind of scared because I know ucsb and esp UCI r getting more and more competitive. Am I worrying too much? Or am I safe? Thanks guys

I would say UCSB and UCI are not safeties.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCSB: 49%
UCI: 57%

UCI: Match-High Match depending upon major
UCSB: High Match depending upon major

If you want a safety, consider UCR and UCM.

If I would like to major in some field in engineering, would I have a match or high match for UCI or ucsb?

Engineering at all the UC’s is very competitive so you want to be above the averages in Stats for the best chances. I would say UCI is closer to a Match while UCSB is a High Match. As always, EC’s and your personal insight questions will factor into your decision along with your HS course rigor.
