Am I Screwed? (First Quarter Grades)

Ok, so, Duke seems to be the only school that requires a first quarter report, and I managed to screw up. Long story short, I got a C in English. There is a pretty good sob story to go along with it, but I'll save it.

Now, the dilemma...

The class is a skinny ( I take it every other day) so a "quarter grade" is really an eighth grade, which means that the C I have as of now is not actually a real grade. It gets averaged with the grade from my next "quarter" to make a real quarter grade for the class. Do I still have to put this on the report? The wording is "List any and all courses completed or in progress"

If I do have to put it down, how much does it hurt me? My grades point to another direction for the rest of my high school career, getting straight A's all year last year in the IB program and and being #5 in the class as of now.

I really hope this won't keep me out.

I don't think you are screwed. Just maybe add an explanation to why you got the C, it shouldn't hurt at all, especially if you are not planning to major in English anyway.
Good luck! Assuming that you are applying ED, I hope to see you next year!

Might be a good thing to mention at the interview if your interviewer gives you a chance (if you are getting one that is) or write in a letter and ask for it to be included with extra materials or something of that sort. But definitely try to explain it.

You'll be fine..I got a C in physics and I got in

Thanks for the encouragement. The whole thing is just very frustrating because the grade is really a 1/8th grade, and it wouldn't matter at all if this first quarter report didn't exist.
