Hey, currently I am a junior.
The last two years were, rough, to say the least. My grandpa died during exams week :,,(

So far, it's 25 A's, 14 B's, 2 C's, and a D. ( I went CD,E= D in math sophomore year because of death in family) after that I promised myself to get all A's junior year, and thank the lord I did.

Last summer after soph. year, I took an online class and did some science research, which I entered into a science fair and won at ISEF.
Also a siemens semifinalist. Is studied for USABO and I am awaiting results right now X)
This summer, I'm taking two college courses and i'm doing research for Intel STS and siemens.
I play varsity lacrosse. 229 PSAT,
(I studied at a camp) and 2250 SAT.

Yea i'm really scared that because of my gpa, i'm screwed at mostly every top-tier school. Any advice? Please?

Well do not take my advice to heavily, considering my current predicament. But for one, there is a place on the commonapp where you can enlighten the holders of your destiny the reason you received those bad marks. Also as long as you have a final GPA thats above 3.5 u should be fine. And of course this all depends on what you are considering a “good, first tier” school, are we talking ivies or are we talking a good state school?

“First tier” or “tier one” universities are subjective measurements. The most often cited designator of “tier 1” is US News, which lists 260 universities as being “tier 1”. With your statistics, you would obviously gain admission to many of these.

Anyway, if you’re referring to the more selective of these universities, I think your test scores and upward grade trend will help you.

You should be good for most top 100 schools if you can get that GPA up. How good are you at LAX, sometimes being a possible recruit can tip you in at Ivies or non-D1 schools that you are looking at.

I wouldn’t say you are TOTALLY out of the running. They like to see improvement, which you obviously have And like someone else said, you can put on the Common App and a lot of other applications explanations as to why you were marked the way you were. Good luck :)

@Avid- yea dude. What would my gpa be if I got straight A’s the next two semesters?

@ everyone else: thanks guys!
I’m not really into ivies, but my favorites are, (currently) are JHU, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and University of Maryland, college park.

How about on that place on the app, I can elaborate about how I aced AB calc, so the precal class enviroment wasn’t stimulating( my teacher was horrible).
And she didn’t give any recompense for my dilemma with the death.
