Am I screwed for schools like Boston college (colleges in the #30 - 40 range)

Ill just post my junior grades since theyre the most relevant:

Ap chem B+
Ap calc AB: B+
Honors Bio: B+
AP Lit: A-
Ap USH: B+
Spanish 4: A-
Journalism: A

Will all these B+s kill my chances at schools like those? Because my unweighted GPA has been on a slight downhill since freshman year .... my only exxcuse for that would be a drastic increase in APs ( 1 in 10th grade to 4 in 11th) but yea :(

What’s up with this # ranking?

Are you really using US News and World Report? Mate, no one cares if you go #1 or #100; the real point is being qualified for labor markets.

Also, you are never “screwed” since there are so many things you can do to completely flip the script in a short period of time; Congressional Medals , etc.

Lastly, college admissions is holistic, but you should realize that in the 30-40 range of USNWR, you should be aiming for a 3.5+. IDK what your GPA would be at your school, but yeah. It’s also important to understand what your class rank is.

Ah, I was mentioning BC specifically because they have a top 5 undergrad business school (Carroll school of management).

Also Im mentioning 30-40 since any colleges at the Top 20-30 seem to be a reach at this point, if we’re talking only about grades.

My college counselor said that I would be a good match for schools like NYU (rank 31) if I kept my grades at a reasonable level, like 4 A/A-s and 3 B+s, but looking at this forum, Im starting to doubt her predictions.

What’s your class rank?
What about ECs?
Other factors/hooks?

Have you seen any STATS threads in the forums of any school that you are interested in? Where do you fit in that schema?

Also, “Top 5” really means nothing at the undergraduate level. It really depends on what you want to do and where you want to do it. For example, Oil & Gas Investment Banking has really different recruiting that East Coast Private Equity.

Class Rank: I’ve yet to know… my school never releases it unless the parents individually ask for the rank
ECs:

Opinion Editor (Leadership position) of Journalism, Staff writer for 2 years (10th, 11th)
Advisory Board member (9th - 11th)
Varsity Track and XC for 3 years ( 9-11th)
Tri-M Music Honors Society (9-10th grade)
National Community service honors Society (11th)
Community Care committee (11th)
2nd Place at the Bain Consulting Case Study Competition (11th)
Policy Journal Staff Writer (11th)
450 Hours at Cedars Sinai Hospital (9th - 11th)
STEAM, honors society for math/science students (9th - 11th)

Also regarding the STATS threads, I’ve looked at NYU only a few months ago, especially their RD and ED threads, because NYU is known for its business programs.

Most of the admitted people didnt have spectacular stats (a few got in with a 2000 -2100 SAT with 3.6 UW GPA, with no major hooks, like an International math Olympiad medal), but again such students represent the “lower end” of the “admitted students” spectrum.

What kind of business do you want to do? [Consulting, IB, PE, VC, Hedge Funds, etc.]

International business or financing, not sure which one of the two though
