Am I screwed? Made a FAFSA correction past the deadlines.

I was chosen for verification. I had to make a few changes to my FAFSA because of it. I initially submitted my FAFSA in March. However, I just made a correction today, July 1st.

Online, it says the deadline for FAFSA was June 30th, however, it still allowed me to make corrections.

On my school’s website, their priority deadline to submit FAFSA was June 1st.

Do you think everything will be okay? Will I be offered my full grant and loans still? My EFC is 0.

I am worried that I am losing money by having to do this verification process and make changes. Will waiting this long affect my aid package? Did they put money aside for me or are they giving it out to others?

Your original filing date will be used, even if you add schools or make changes.

Priority deadline are also for the school aid. You’d still get a Pell grant even if you filed after June 1.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t 6/30/18 the FAFSA deadline for school year 2017/18?

If the verification was about income, then you can be proactive next year and file the FAFSA when it first becomes available on October 1, and use the IRS data retrieval tool to import the parent and student tax return.

Some schools still require tax transcripts, you can order them early to have on hand as well.

I originally read the OP that way too, mommdc, but reread it and OP is talking about a particular school’s priority deadline. Schools can set any priority deadline they want for their own aid, but the federal deadline will remain June 30, 2018 for the 2017-18 school year for Pell and loans; SEOG and work study money will be long gone if the filing isn’t done till the end of the second term.

The original date you filed is the date your school will use as the date you submitted, assuming you had an EFC calculated on that transaction (meaning that it wasn’t rejected by the processor).
