hey guys. so i think for my mid year report i will get Bs in 3/7 classes (taking 6 APs this year), in ap calc bc, ap physics, and ap gov. the first two i kind of forgave myself because i am weak in subjects involving numbers but i'm afraid when the college looks at the B in gov they will know i didn't try my best. i have a 4.28 weighted GPA (not counting my senior first semester yet) and i have received mostly As in the past (usually one B per semester). do my mid year grades screw up my chances for middlebury college?

They certainly won’t help. You want the trend to go in the other direction…

Well, obviously they won’t help.

But I’m much more optimistic. I think you’ll be fine. With such a rigorous coarse load I think you’ll be forgiven. Of course none of us can really say for sure. I highly doubt that those few discrepancies would negate the lovely parts of your application and four years worth of other achievements.

I’m in a similar boat. I got a B+ this year in AP Calc BC. It’s my second non A for high school. (Had an A- freshman year). My school doesn’t weight.

The OBD sides with Arcadia…better have a safety…

have some faith here never know what will go down… I have a sneaky suspicious I am getting in…

Wow, that’s very confident!
Why do you have a “sneaky suspicion” that you’ll be admitted?

When I get in I will divulge my secret strategy.

I’m in a similar situation. My senior year GPA is going to be .2-.35 lower than my GPA for the previous 3 years (I still don’t know two of my grades).

I don’t think that it is going to kill your application, but it may make a difference. I would think that the fact that the classes that you got Bs in were APs will help.

A couple years ago, a student posted that they got a letter threatening to rescind their ED admission because their BC Calc grade went from a low 80 to a 78. All other grades were As. They aren’t messing around in admissions at Midd…

Ooh. Now I’m sort of worried… Eh. I’ve been expecting rejection anyway. I had a B+ in Calc BC. All of my other grades were A’s.

OldbatesieDoc–
My guess is that the letter was an obligatory one sent to any ED student who received some variation of a ‘C’ on their mid-term report. Don’t go worrying these applicants!

I think a little worry is good. May make them apply to a safety…
