Am I Screwed, Perhaps?

June SAT I:
620 CR
780 M
780 W (74 MC/11 E)
Composite 2180.

My top choice for college is UPENN Early Decision. I'm quite afraid that the 620 CR score will knock me out of the competition for potentially getting in. Does anyone know anything about this or wish to offer any advice/opinions about that score for typical top tier colleges (Excluding HYP).

Thanks so much

Gahhh… please help! :)

Are you a legacy/athlete etc?

Not sure it “knocks you out” but it certainly will make it more difficult…I would imagine that most top tier schools (not HYP) have an unspoken level of tolerance for one low score; of course, I have no idea what that is…

Not even a legacy/athlete… Thank you for your contribution, I agree. Hopefully I cover that one score with my enrollment in a gifted english class for 4 years? Perhaps GPA, ECs, and other parts of my application can allow that one fault. Any other opinions greatly appreciated.
Worth taking the SAT a third time to bring that score up?

Sure and I would take a crack at the ACT as well…you may “click” better on the reading portion…

Can’t hurt to take the SAT again; I think UPenn does superscore…what are your other stats etc?

Took the ACT in June, expecting to take it again in September to a hopeful 32-33 composite.

Just a little sample, hopefully that was enough!
Thanks for your help, Rodney

If your ACT is 33-34, don’t bother with the SAT…if the 3.9 is UW, you have as good a chance as anyone else…

2180 is approx a 32…

Yes 3.9 UW. I will receive scores the 27th (i believe?) and will let you know. I remember the ACT was the weekend in which we had a brutal storm and I was out of power…made it a rough testing session. But I will hope for the best!
Do u think Early Decision to CAS would help me at all in this process?

well ED will certainly be better than RD…can you send me a PM? I just read your other thread…re: gastro

I have a ? I don’t want to post publicly…

Sure… I PMed
