So today while I was in the middle of taking the Comp Gov AP Test I noticed the proctor telling us to use pen for the FRQs. Then I remembered when I was taking my AP US History exam, I used pencil...it was because I took Calc BC before and we were allowed to use pencil, so I didn't reread the directions. And the proctor didn't walk around and look at everyone's paper. So are my AP US History not gonna be scored? I'm so nervous...

If you look at the back of the question booklet, you’ll notice that it says that you can use pencil or pen. They generally discourage the use of pencil because it is harder to read, but if you write dark enough, it shouldn’t be a problem.

^Non-calculation based FRQ’s (like the history exams) say pen only on the back.

OP, your USH FRQ’s should be scored, you may just draw the ire of the reader(s).

US History specifically said pencil or pen on the back. I remember noticing that because my teacher had said it was only pen, so I was a little surprised.
I don’t know about any other AP exam other than Chemistry (pencil or pen).

I remember taking the us history exam last year, and I had the option ti use pencil OR pen. Other exams like the ones I’ve taken this year require the use of only pen. It’s best to go to collegeboard.com and find out what each individual test requires.
