Am I screwed?

In a vacuum, I think I would have an ok chance at top schools, but I made the decision to go into business not too long ago, and none of my extracurriculars reflect this major. Do I even have a chance at top schools if I’m applying for business? Would I be better off just applying as undecided? Do you know anyone who got into a top school for business under this circumstance? Thanks.

No one will able to help you unless you post your stats (GPA, test scores, EC’s) and where you plan to apply.

I can’t answer if you will or won’t get into “top schools”. But if you want to go into an undergraduate business program then apply to undergraduate business programs. Otherwise you will be stuck at a school studying something you don’t want.

So you mean you are a high school student without a successful business? You are doomed for sure. On the other hand, maybe colleges don’t expect a teenager to be a successful business person. This question is so general. We have no idea what your stats are or what your ECs are. You aren’t actually asking anything, What do mean by “you made a decision to go into business not long ago”? You are in high school, so did you quit?

Getting into top colleges means you have great stats, but you also offer the college something they want. Find out what they want and give it to them. I don’t believe in this spike nonsense. Be an interesting, likable person who has interests outside of school. Submit great recs and essays. There is no magic formula.

With information provided, you are screwed

I don’t think you need HS business clubs to have a shot at top b-schools. It is fine to decide later in the game that you want to study business. HS is a time when many people’s interests change and evolve. As long as you have good EC involvement, you should have a chance.

Again, at many schools internal transfers into the b-school are extremely difficult so if you want business I’d apply as a business major.
